Any of you guys ever raced and s2k?

Any of you fd owners every race an s2000 every s2000 owner i know always says they can pull on 350z's, rx-7,evo's, and sti's.

jay3 01-12-07 04:00 AM

sure, they can pull on a N/A FC!

assuming we're talking about near stock s2k, a fd should own them from a roll and even more from a stop. but you have to take in account that the majority of these cars are modded to some extent. a s2k on the track is another story however..

93rx74lyfe 01-12-07 10:06 AM

yes ive raced about a 6 of them and they are all pretty slow. im only around 300-315WHP and thats not much. all the ones ive raced are close to that or a little more. "the 7 cant lose!" :fawk:

zinx 01-12-07 10:50 AM

I've raced a couple, its was quite funny.

lean back 01-12-07 11:29 AM

S2K's are funny they make lots of noise even though theyre far behind you.lol

+1

My friend had one. I wasn't impressed. Actually he got beat by another friend who had a stock 185 HP audi TT (not the 225 quatro).

I've never raced one. They always leave me alone unlike the srt-4's and mustangs. Those guys seem like they're always hungry for some.

91mr2 01-12-07 03:02 PM

thats what i thought its just that vtec boost their egos so much i dont understand. Ive driven 2 and they dont feel all that fast, to be beating evos and sti's.

AHarada 01-12-07 03:37 PM

Nice car, but not fast by any means. Supercharged/turbo would be something to mess with, but even the most modded NA S2 should get spanked by any stock FD.

importedboi 01-12-07 03:55 PM

i rode in one to with some extent in mods not impressed that much. But they are loud as hell. My cousin civic dynoed 185hp/180trq and beat a mild modded s2k.

91mr2 01-12-07 05:10 PM

at 185hp/180trq wheel, thats just about 10 hp wheel less from an S and and 40 more tq also the civic is alot lighter.

Eternal_Gamer 01-12-07 05:32 PM

my dad used to own one, and I drove it plenty. It is pretty good for a honda and has pretty good top end for a 2.0 dohc vtec, but it wont hang with the 7. although, it does have superb handling.

12akid 01-12-07 05:37 PM

i smoked my friends s2k the 2.2l one , i think a 2gen n/a with a good street port, would stay with it,

dvls-7 01-12-07 05:40 PM

The S2 in stock form they are pretty slow....they do respond well to mods. It really likes the bottle....but with boost its another story. I know a couple that are close to the 500hp mark on pump gas and stock internals.

adam c 01-12-07 06:25 PM

The S2000 is a really nice car. Nice looking, decent power, and great handling. However, it's no supercar. I raced one, and beat him fairly easily. If I were in the market for a convertible, an S2000 would definitely be a good car to consider.

scratchjunkie 01-12-07 06:43 PM

raced my friends s2k, kicked his ass pretty bad. he then bought a to4 turbo kit, kicked his ass again. he then sold his car. i would trade my fd for a s2k though.

tragic00 01-12-07 11:33 PM

good god those cars are slow the only ones that are quick are the 2jz powered ones. my buddy has a comptech supercharged s2k and i still pull 5 or 6 cars on him with only 310hp

Wargasm 01-12-07 11:45 PM

A properly running stock FD will beat a stock S2K every time. I have an FD and my daily driver is an S2K :)

I've raced two 350Zs up to about 130-135 mph, and the Z had a slight edge I think, but just baareeeeellyy.... This was with my top down (more drag).

I raced my buddy's mildly modded Evo, and he had no trouble putting a few cars on my S2K on highway roll ons.

One problem with S2000s is that unless you keep it from 7000-9000 RPM, they pretty much are as slow as an Accord. You really need to drive the car HARD to make it go fast. It handles sweetly though, and I love the fact that I can drop the top on nice days. Another bonus is that I don't care if it gets stolen, scratched, etc.. it's my beater :)

Your S2000 is your "beater." You, dear sir, are a bastard. :)

I totally agree 200%

nah, they can't pull on the sti's just too much power for a stock s2k. when my rx7 was close to stock (just had downpipe), when I used to take on my buddy's s2k, it was pretty dead even from a dig to 80 (me with a bad launch and spinning my tires in place for a second), but after 80 I started walking him bad. The stock s2k could take on the early gen evo's and wrxs, but not the STIs. If the s2k was running a supercharger through, it would be a very different story. The comptech superchager makes the car into a 310-320whp/240tq daily driver, with gears it's pretty crazy.

darkphantom 01-13-07 03:02 PM

RAN A 450hp s2k @ 17psi with me @ 12psi (430hp) we were neck & neck. Even race

Nah, a base supercharger kit gives only about ~300 whp and ~180 lb-ft of torque on an S2000. 240 lb-ft is wishful thinking for a base supercharger kit :) Even mild turbo kits don't reach that torque figure.

nocomply24 01-14-07 11:54 PM

i raced one from a light, i let him get infront of me and i took of like i was going for a sunday cruise...and he was strait guning it off the light. So then after i slowly take off i just step on it and by this time he is starting to redline 2 and iam not even redlining first...well lets just say by the time i got into 3rd gear i flew by him like he was standing still. and my car maybe making 280 to 300 rwhp and i mean maybe if iam lucky. :)

Hheheh, my true beater is my wife's pimpin 2000 Hyundai Accent. That thing has been in about 6 minor accidents. I try to take care of the S2k, but if something happens to it, I wouldn't cry or anything. If my FD got a bird poop on it, I think it's go nuts! :)
