Any FD's have encounters with TT 350z?

I raced a a turbo 350z with alot of money into it when I got my car, with only an exhaust, and I stuck with him at his door. IDK if it was a TT or just a single but has anyone had any encounters with TT 350z's? My car is about to be single turbo on a fresh rebuild and fresh streetport so I was wondering what the outcome would be? Share stories or insight please...

there are to many of these threads.
but if I bet you want a straight answer and i would say yes, you'd take the cake.
thnx

If you stuck by it with only exhaust, im sure you could take it with a single turbo.

I raced a turbo 350z the other night. I dont know if it was single or twin, but he blewoff on me me while i was coming home on the freeway. I caught up to him and gave him a thumbs up cuz it was definitely a clean 350. He honked 3 times and by the end i pulled about 2 1/2 to 3 cars on him, and i am single turbo.

not really an encounter, but there's this thread...

i ran one with 410 at the wheels on 7psi and won by a car, but i started a car 1/2 back

i owned a 350 for about a year, and hung out on my350z.com about as much as i do here(a lot). and there are some fast ones, but theyres a lot more not so fast ones, lol. They have a stickied thread of verified quarter mile times, and there are awesome drivers running mid- low 13's BONE STOCK, AND there are some twin turbos runnin the same! so its definitly a drivers car.

but, if you think about it, a lot of 350 owners buy the car for its looks, and its really more of a touring car than an FD. so theres quite a few with 20's and subs!

My friend has a 535rwp TT 350z. He took me for a ride and it doesnt feel nearly as fast as mine. But we will see. I put down 490rwp in my fd, so it should be a great race considering the weight difference. I will try and video it.

efranklin 10-09-07 06:47 PM

^^ +1 for a video!

I would absolutely love to see that race. Be safe, do it legally!

I have personally seen TTZ's WALK 420hp rx7s. We have a guy that is down around our area that has a VERY fast one. The z and 1wide7 went at it one night and he pulled 2-3 cars on him. When build right, with some boost they are capable of 131-135s. Ray of PFsupercars has one as well, which is VERY fast and went low 11s at 13xmph. You need atleast 475+whp to get close to a 130mph trap and hang with these things on the highway.

I have never seen a 350Z TT run anything near 130 mph? I ran one in my Yellow car ~ 3 yrs ago (he came after me as me & the wife were just driving home from dinner....his plate was, "EYEWON"). It was pretty quick, but not quick enough - I pulled him several times by 2 - 3 cars from 40 mph rolls to about 80 mph.

I've pulled a stock C6 ZO6 & this guy's 350Z TT was not nearly as fast. But as we all know, one experience does mean all TTz's run the same, but here is a pretty good list....they are all pretty much trapping 113 to 121 mph (2 guys trapped 123 & 124 mph but have either a built motor running a single turbo or a 150 Hp nitrous shot).....Those things are just heavier at ~ 3,200 lbs.

1wide7 10-16-07 03:46 PM

from personal experience a BUILT motor tt will pull close to 600 whp on pump gas there are 2 in our (mine, turbodrx7) area. 1 of them is ray wilson of pf supercars.
both of these Z's trap around 130 ish.

now there are a number of them that just bolted on the tubo kit and only make around 400 ish and thats not enough power to weight to trap that high.

zinx 10-16-07 04:10 PM

I know of one or two around here, I'll see if i can get a race and post a vid.

sm0keyii 10-17-07 02:14 PM

The first day driving my FD after returning from Iraq, I had a turbo'd 350 trying to race me. My car was bone stock. I hope to find it one day after my rebuild/single conversion. No Idea if it was single or twin.

z-beater 12-11-07 04:36 PM

I was messing around with another turbo FB the other weekend and a TT Z rolled up on us. The thing was insane. I asked him how much hp he made and he said that he was not sure since he just put the car together. He did say that he has a firend with a 440whp Z, and he is quite a bit faster than him.

All I know is that I was only at 7psi and he was not a huge amount faster than me. The difference was noticable though. We never got a side by side run. I think that it is because he has the weight thing going against him.

AsianFlip06 12-16-07 07:43 PM

Turbonetics

400whp with turbonetics single turbo and you got 11sec qtr at 120mph... All on stock block with just different wastegate config and of course tuning... Very reliable setup also.

money 12-16-07 09:26 PM

do you guy think that a 100% stock fd ( just have downpipe and exhaust ) will be able to keep up with the 350z or it will murder the 100% stock fd?

It would probably beat the FD, but not by much. However if the FD was converted to a single turbo with a little more boost, the FD would take it.

well i know that single will take it just like snap ur finger. but the fact is that, did anyone that have stock FD (100% just changed downpipe and exhaust) end counter with the Z?

DMoneyRX-7 04-09-08 01:13 AM

a stock Z? If so then ya...me. Not that one TTZ that I was talking about but it was a fun race. It was a long time ago though but all I can remember is I had a car length on him

If your street-port, GT35R set-up is tuned nicely, you will dominate all life on earth with that build...

DMoneyRX-7 05-05-08 09:31 AM

it's tuned by Kyle K. and Chuck Westbrook so...YES it will be a great tune.

Mike0071 05-05-08 10:37 AM

What about big street port with GT35R set-up tuned by Steve Kan?

1SWEET7 05-05-08 11:45 AM

Dan Ziegler of Performance Motorsports in Long Island has the fastest 350z in the world, he claims. A little over 20psi making 600+ at the wheels. Stock block, stock tranny, stock crank 10.39 @ 137!

It is on the video 2Fast 2Real.

turbo_dave 05-06-08 01:57 AM

i had a 83 rx7 not FD but had stock turbo 2 motor with t4 and stock t2 computer only boosting 10 pounds,my buddy has a infinity g35 twin turbo, lets just say for being a 6cyl with twin turbo he got raped with no lube.

Altered Atmosphere in Maryland builds some very fast Z's, they built my friends 350z, he has the greddy kit, built bottom end, custom fuel cell, hks fcon pro, evc5, gauges, custom axles, u know, the works.

530rwhp @ 13psi on a conservative breakin tune with twin greddy 18g's on 91 octane.

Attached is the dyno.

All I have to say is, 1st gear to 3rd is useless, I've driven it. In those gears, staying on the wastegate spring of 7psi is much more fun. 4th to 6th on the highway in the high setting, for now, on 13 is a blast though. Car pulls like a really angry freight train. Haven't raced any fd's, he's gonna track it soon, I'll try to get 1/4 numbers for everyone. He's not into forums, but his car is fast and he can drive. He raced another twin turbo Z with a different kit on it, and he smoked it like it was parked lol. The car is really fun to drive though, but still not my cup of tea. Too much weight, too much power.

w94rx7tt 05-25-08 03:01 AM

DmoneyRX-7.. what color was the z that you raced in Nashville? A buddy of mine owns a silver 350Z that is tt that is putting down low 600's and getting ready to go for around 850 or so.... I doubt you raced him though.

DMoneyRX-7 05-25-08 04:34 AM

w94, the race I had happened in Texas about 2.5 years ago.

You live in Franklin? We need to get together soon. I'm getting my FD to Nashville on Monday...hopefully.

w94rx7tt 05-25-08 03:25 PM

gotcha... yea I am hoping to have my car done soon. just waiting on a lift to open up so i can get my car in the air and finish up a few things.

No being racist or anything but is he black and is his Z black? The one I raced was very fasttt, had wheel dump in 3rd easy. I'm here on L.I. and all the major tuners (No limit, Pampino, etc) always come out once in a while here to deer park ave.

notveryhappyjack 06-03-08 10:02 PM

Me and z beater were making a pull. I was running 13 psi, dave was running 5 psi iirc. Anyway I didn't even know a tt 350z was racing with us. He passed me a second after I let off and apparently was racing with us ?? That car is tuned now to 10 psi w/aux inj. with around 445 wheels. Still trying to actually race him for real.
