Originally posted by Silkworm well, since drifting isnt' racing, I guess you're pretty well screwed But seriously, if you want to compete in drifting your best bet would be to move down to Southern California. Build a car and come down for the Formula D competions or the next D1 drivers search. |
We need a DriftTech Forum....

Both The SCCA and NASA eill be sanctioning Drift schools and compeititions this year -
check out their web sites: http://www.calclub.com/ https://www.nasaproracing.com/ |

Originally posted by specRX7_22 It's funny, but Silkworm is right. Drifting is a hobby/talent/fun time/whatever else you want to call it. Well, technically, at the club racing level, racing is nothing but a hobby/talent/fun time/waiste of money/whatever else you want to call it. {/drifters advocate] ;) |
um... look at the location... ONTARIO, couldn't be any further unless he was from quebec
|
also, since you say you've done it for six years, you should be good enough to try and start your own club up in canada

Silkworm, if ya get two of those DRIFTERS W2W about as close as ya can get without trading paint I'd call that racing. he he heee ; ) Which reminds me of the last race of the season at Blackhawk Farm @ the drop of the green flag just before the 1st turn I squeezed between two cars. While going thru the turn 3 wide on cold tires I shrugged my shoulders )( (to get narower) cause I thought I was going to have body work on both sides. 3 wide with no rubbing & the friken track is at max 3 lanes wide. Didn't have time to look, maybe the outside car was doing some agricultural experimentation. David |
Drifting events are judged like an ice skating competions. Its up to the judge and if they don't like what they see your screwed even if you have all the skill in the world. Way to subjective. In a timed racing event you can look like crap but as long as you have a better time you win.
Now explain to us again how drifting is racing? |
Isn't drifting a recent "sport"....?
6 years - maybe if this dude was living in Japan, but apart from doing your home made version around the local back-roads, then this smells :) And I would like to see anyone "drift" at 220... all the stuff I have seen, including the team drifting is at much more sedate speeds........? |
Want to get into racing? First rob a few banks this should get you started, Second forget any relationship plans you might have Girlfriend, Wife, Dog, etc. Next, work on sleep deprivation. Ok, now your ready. Go out choose a car any thing will work. Do some reasearch, get good and confused, start modifying soon you will discover its not fast enough and it handles like shit repeat this process as much as you like and call your self a Racer Congradulations
|
a drifting topic comes up and suddenly everyone on this forum turns into assholes?
I thought this was one of the coolest forums on this board. |
Could we please not get into another arguement about if drifting is racing. It's not. What it is is fun. I love drifting and hope to be competing in it by the end of the year. I'd also like to road race eventually when I have more money. We all got into motorsports because it's fun. Let's try and not forget that.

Whether it's wheel to wheel or not. Two cars drifting together are never fighting for the same spot on the track. It takes talent to do it right...sure enough. But it's not racing. Where are they racing to? The guy that gets there first can still lose because he didn't do it as pretty as the other guy? Nope. Not racing. |

In drifting, who exactly are you "racing"? Nobody, its a sport. It doesn't matter who crosses the finish line first.
