vids vids! nice!

gnx7 04-08-03 04:57 PM

that looks like fun Paul. Racing for 20 minute sessions vs. 10 seconds at a time has finally struck me as being more fun.

Time to get started on a hell machine roadrace FC/FD.

Thanks once again Silkworm. :bigthumb:

You keep making the videos, I'll find the harddrive space for them. :D

Montrealer 04-08-03 09:39 PM

IF you would have let me have a shot at that NSX I would have blown his doors off :pity:

Back to reality, nice vid :bigthumb:

DriveFast7 04-10-03 10:02 PM

darn tootin' good time.

you coming down to buttonwillow Oct 18-19 NASA? It's a norcal/socal crossover event and i should be there too. hpde 3 or 4

later,
brad

skunks 04-11-03 08:24 AM

was that an integra passing you?

Silkworm 04-11-03 12:43 PM

Brad,

More than likely, yeah. There's an event at SPIR the next weekend, so if I can only afford one, I'll do SPIR..

Skunks,

Yep, that's an Integra..

DriveFast7 04-11-03 01:23 PM

integras can be faster than you'd think, especially the ITR flavour. LOTS of go-fast parts for them and they handle well too.

I know how the $$ goes Paul, hope to see you down here.

Brad

rynberg 04-11-03 04:34 PM

Very, very nice video! Loved the fight between yourself and the Integra. The Corvette may have blown by you off the straight but he didn't appear to be pulling away much in the curves.....

Nice!

Carl Byck 04-13-03 03:05 PM

Looks like you are carrying good speed throughout the run. Is there a way for me to post my HI 8 video? I've still got two months of work to go on my seven before it hits the track again. :( Carl

88IntegraLS 04-14-03 12:50 AM

It takes a very modern, late model Integra to even come close to competing with a 15+ year old RX-7. I have one of each of roughly the 88 model year (FC is an 87) and there is just no comparison. The FC is three times the car . . . Let's see a S7 do battle with an ITR . . . wait, then there is the issue of only one having the advantage of a turbo . . .

Silkworm 04-14-03 12:42 PM

Hey Carl,

Yeah, it took most of the weekend to start shaking out the cobwebs, hadn't been out on track since December, but the competition between the 3 ITS cars out in Group 4 really helped push us all to get our times down.

88Teg..

heh, yeah, there is just a minor problem of a turbo ;) OTOH, driver does count for a lot here as well.

there is a video floating around of a s6or7 rx7 racing with a new type r. they were pretty damned close.

Carl Byck 04-14-03 11:12 PM

Hey Paul, you didn't answer my question, is there a way to post an analog 8mm tape? I have some nice in car footage of me passing and then walking away from a 2002 996TT, and a 2002 ZO6 at thunder hill last fall. Thanks, Carl

Silkworm 04-15-03 12:07 AM

oh, sorry. You need a capture card to do it. I use an All In Wonder ATI card..

in2twins 04-16-03 11:17 AM

what hardware is required? thanks, Carl

Silkworm 04-16-03 11:58 AM

Just the AIW video card, your camcorder, and the composite (Yellow/Red/White) cables.

That is really weird. Last autox I was at, TWO ITR's got beaten easily by an FD. I don't know the drivers so I can't say who was more skilled. Yes, they were real Type R's and the FD was not modded very much. I do know that my Integra has tons of understeer! I am going to go insane if I don't get my FC back together soon. :tear:

Good lines at Thunder Hill. I think you are the guy I met at Reno NASA right? Any how a little more rotation will get you higher entrance and corner speed. Oh I noticed you were lifting less with the instructor going through turn 5. Need to gusto through turn 5 with out lifting, but you have to be lined up right for 6 though. Looks like you could deep brake a little more , but I could be wrong since it was a video.

Bitaaaaaach. Let Doctor Ho show you how to operate.

Silkworm 08-15-03 11:18 PM

Hi there,

Yeah, I think we met at Reno, how's the motor? Are you going to make T-hill? That'll be my first race :)

I'm working on 5, I think I"m a little slow into 11, and way slow into 14, but otherwise I feel pretty solid.. Could be right on the braking, the plus pads I was running lock up real easy so I've been working on getting up to the edge and backing down, so sometimes I go in a little soft early. We'll see how these 1109s work out for me in a few weeks.

TTYL!

Cool I will be there at T.H. The black car will be down for a while. Watch out for turn 1 it will bite you hard if your are not careful. I almost flipped end over end at 8 so watch out for that too.

Cheers! 08-16-03 09:12 PM

Silkworm 08-17-03 12:30 AM

Block them if you have to but don't cut any body off. In my opinion if the guy next to you have his front bumper stuck in by you rear tire then his is in. You can pick them off if you are faster, but remeber when it comes to head to head two deep into turn one it is much different then when you are by yourself.

Good luck in advance.
