You don't have to drill out all those rivets to service the undercarriage, do you? Or does it come off in sections?

I have seen John Finger's car with the MX-6 bodywork at the Mitty, maybe 8 or so years ago. He was paddocked right next to me. He had it for sale, and was asking $60k or $75k at the time; I can't remember the exact amount.

I wish you were not so far away from me, I would really like to see it at the track again. I have been vintage racing for 21 years now. With your tube frame, you would probably be classed in SVRA Group 10, class GT2. My tub chassis 1979 GTU car runs in SVRA GT3.

OK, just found this - that is so cool. Interesting too to see the contrast between various of the professionally built tube chassis cars - this is executed differently than Glen Jung's car (which I think was a late 90s GTS-3 car) which is executed differently than the Mandeville built car (no idea what class it was for originally) that I last saw being run by Ron Tambourine. Some similarities (they're all now wearing basically the same bodywork) but the suspensions are done differently and yours is the only one I've seen with a transaxle. The Mandeville built car had the fuel tanks in front of the diff too, but was using a quickchange setup for IRS and a conventional style trans.

What's the weight at, do you know?

Glen's car is an older Chassis Dynamics car as far as I can tell . He has done a lot of updates before racing it in Trans Am. It is going on the scales when its back from the body shop. My guess is 1900 pounds.

any info on where to source those hubs? always curious what kind of hubs race car people use.

The single lug hubs and uprights were machined/ cast by the builder of the car, Bob Cuneo of Chassis Dynamics . He had a molding company build the molds to his design. Unfortunately as IMSA started going towards tub cars in the 90's there was less demand for these and he scrapped them. Riley and other racecar builders generally make their own. Riley wants $40,000 for 4 uprights last time I checked. lol

The silver car is a 1993 rx7 with a 3 rotor turbo, Jerico 5 speed, 14 inch brakes, some aero, and Cobra diff. There are a lot of videos on youtube of this car in action. I've owned it since 1997. Sometimes it feels like it owns me.

Very curious on the spring rate/sway bar/alignment you are running

The fd set up is as follows.

front

1300 lb spring
1.25 speedway style swaybar
Penske 8300 shocks
3 to 3.3 degrees camber
0 toe

rear

1400 lb spring
disconnected rear bar
Penske 8300 shock
2.4 degrees camber
1/8 total toe in

hoosier a7 tires

thanks ! That's the direction i'm going with my new setup as well, stiff front sway bar, 1/8inch toe in. I'm trying to dial out the power on oversteer characteristics.

I did try no rear sway bar a few years back on another FD (448lb front spring, 336lb rear, stock front swaybar) , but i felt it had too much understeer mid corner.
Did you encounter a similar issue after removing the rear sway bar?

Awesome project! I don't check these forums often. Looking forward to seeing this car on the track this year! I have a shop on the north shore doing 3d scanning, fabricating, and CNC milling. We can easily 3d scan those uprights if you need them remade or we can design you a modern upright in aluminum that will outperform those guys and fit the suspension design!
