if memory serves right isn't the 710 offered in a 235-50-13 at tire rack......i've been trying to find someone that has the 215's in stock (not back on back order damn it) and i believe i saw the 235's.

the only kumho 235 i have found is the ecsta v700

Not that I claim to be an expert..... but the car I bought had 225/45-13 Hoosier Street TD's on a 13x9 rim. The max rim that Hoosier recommends for this tire is 8.5" Just a data point for you to use.

yup you're right i just had another look...it was the 700's i saw. but to no suprise the 215's are STILL on back order for another month

Back from the dead. I have not done much with the car, as I got married and bought a house. This winter it will be time to prep the car to run next season. I am still going to go the CSP route, and am looking into the rim/tire combos again. I am thinking of going with the Kumho V710s on a 13x7 rim. I'll probably go with the diamonds, as they are a lot more affordable. Will a 4 " backspace be correct with the 13 x 7?

I am just getting into running Hillclimbs in PA and have begun looking to modify my car to become competitive in CSP. I am working with a 1980 GS with a 12A with hardly no mods done. Still running regular street tires and suspension. This thread has been so helpful and i wanted to say thank you to all of the folks that added their 2 cents, really great info! I plan on beginning with the suspension this winter, but after reading what has been said here, I think I am more confused than before! LOL I have come to the same reasoning for wheels as you have and think I will do the same thing, 13X7 steel wheels with the Khumos, I need the smallest wheel to improve the pulling around turns and up hills. Anyone think going smaller would be beneficial? I have a rear from an old 85 GSLSE that I am gonna put into it for the disc brakes and gears, but this thread has me spinning on springs and struts. Sounds to me that a bilstien setup may be the best for me, coilovers with the 400lb and 150 lb springs, maybe less in the front?
The sterling Carb was in the forefront to be done at this time too, check out this site for more info on the carbs. http://www.yawpower.com/racecarb.html , Paul Yaw must be an extremely bright guy with all of the stuff he has tried and experienced with rotaries. Great tutorials on their site too.
The other thing I found on the threads here is one guy said he is using E500 twin carbs from a Kawasaki, and I wonder what kind of performance this could supply? looks like a pretty cool setup and could be easy to find some like these? Do you already have the sterling carb or have it on order yet? What is done to the intake, a little smoothing and enlarging? I have seen some posts saying they have been waiting a very long time to get a Sterling carb. Sounds like the hot ticket tho! The Yaw carb looks very good too, but not selling them now. I guess I will try to get a sterling too!
Sounds like we are heading in the same direction with the cars, what else have you determined with the back axle and suspension, hope we don't have to run against each other this year! LOL Gonna try to go to Jefferson this year too!

I don't have the carb yet, but am expecting it any day now (he was finishing it up last week). I know Sterling has been pretty busy. On the intake, I'm pretty much just gonna smoothe things out/port match, and remoe all the emmissions junk. On the rear, I have a 82 gsl rear that is going in. I'm probably gonna go with full coil over setup (ground control or maxdatrix, think they are the same anyway). Probably won't run till next season at the earliest, as the car needs a lot of TLC, and I am jsut starting on it in my spare time. The house and wife keep me pretty busy.

Hi Chas, I just bought some dual weber 36DCD's and based on where the main fuel jet is located (towards the passenger side of car), when car turns right, car leans up to the right so fuel in float bowl will move to the left, uncovering the main fuel jet. Lean stumble.

A float bowl baffle is the solution. I wish I knew *how* to make and install one. Couldn't be too difficult but I think it'll need to be welded in as I wouldn't feel comfortable with adhesive. Even though Devcon aluminum putty is gasoline resistant, and I have used it to repair an idle mixture screw seat, I don't think it can stand up to 24/7 immersion in gasoline.

Hey that's good info. I'll have to look into that. Maybe I can get something machined up or maybe make some jet extenders.
