My New Track Monster
The previous owner (Wael El-Dasher a long time forum member) was an extremely meticulous owner who spared no expense and the car is a testament to his love and devotion. I will in turn give it lots of abuse but it will be happy doing what it is prepared to do and that is driving on the track. Just got back from VIR and I was considering keeping this beautiful machine in its show car condition but after driving this car at the limit its made for one thing and one thing only :) I only used it for a couple of hours before the fuel pump went but during that brief time I saw lots of potential and was delighted by the speeds I was achieving at entry and track out versus my previous numbers (even with street tires). I never got any lap times but I'm expecting some really good numbers this coming weekend. I'm going to VIR full again and will report back on this awesome track monster :)
Cheers to Wael who built a great car and made this buying experience a pleasure. Fritz |
so what kind of car is it?
|
Fd :) and not a race car but a well prepared HPDE car.
I'll post some pics when I get a chance. |

Did Wael ever track the car? |
Congrats Fritz, Yes, we want pics and details.:)
|
Install a video camera on his M2 rollbar. I want vids with laptimes ;)
|
Fritz,
That's great to know that Wael's car went to someone who will really appreciate it. Now I know for sure, I hate you! ;) |
Make no mistake Wael did appreciate his car and took it to the track quite a bit. Lets just say that he isn't as "hardcore" as Fritz in terms of tracking the car.
|
so it is you that bought the car....nice!

Nasa vir full course
I have lots of video but so far my best time is only 2:18 (hey its early in the year and I just got the car). Still haven't looked at all the tapes so hopefully I will have some better lap times :)
Met a couple of guys from the forum that were very cool and took out (on track not on a date for you wise guys from San Fran) the fella that bought Vosko's old car :) Things already broken: Cracked front rotors but still lots of life in my book AC which I think is just electrical but of course I'm taking it out anyway. Turbo manifold leak (all my cars start sounding like a tractor after just a few events) Wael, I'll post some pics of the battle scars when I get a chance but be sure your sitting down :). This car is awesome by the way. If my blue car doesn't come off the injured reserve I have no complaints. Fritz |
Well I've been watching videos for the last hour and found 2:15 flat. With a compete open lap I really think this car is capable of a 2:12 :)
Now I just need someone to tell me how to host the damn video. I have a wire that plugs into the usb then into the video camera so I'm assuming thats all I need along with uploading some kind of software. Any recommendations? Thanks, Fritz |
time to invest in a laptimer....:)
|
Hey fritz its dennis i met you this weekend, i just got back to NY now. All i can say is that car is amazing!!!
That ride was one of the best experiences ive ever had, soo fast, and more motivation to get my car done and get out there! Thanks so much for the ride hopefully see you out there again soon. it was nice meeting you. dennis |
Fritz, once you have the software to compress the video to a Mpeg or DIVX (or whatever) format maybe you can have Dave Nugent from Mazdadrivers.com host your video. On the site (where the applications are located) they have video of Crispy doing laps at VIR.
I bet if you take out the huge stereo system you will easily find 2:12s :-) R |

I'm going this coming weekend with the bmw sandlapper club so hopefully I can improve upon the time. If I can pull off a 2:12 with just bolt ons I'll be really happy. |
OK guys I got the computer hooked up for video so now I just need someone to host it :)
Thanks, Fritz PS I retimed it and its more like a 2:13 or 2:14 :) |

I have a bunch of pics for you and i'll post some links to them as soon as i upload them. I really appreciate the ride and i must say that this was really a thrill ride. He's an excellent driver and the car hauls ass. I was jsut grinning and wanting to go faster even though we were hitting 145 with ease coming out of oak tree. The handling was seemingly comparable to the formula sae car. really fast car even with low boost levels. |

Fritz,
You should've bought my car. <grin> |
Originally posted by bradrx7 Fritz, You should've bought my car. <grin> YOUR RIGHT! I will end up with a car very similar to yours in the next couple of years. I would like to eventually do some NASA open events with an FD. If the price of your car comes down some please let me know :) Also keep me posted on any future upgrades. Thanks, Fritz |
How big is the video fritz?

fritz, I'll be up in June. You coming then?

If you do i can zip all the files and email you them that way. Then you'll have all my pics from this past weekend, which is about 100+. some are pretty good some are just ok. Those are really the only good pics i have of your car. for some reason i have very few of it on track. But i'll email another friend who took a lot of pics with a much nicer camera. I'm sure he'll be helpful. p.s. i had a white helmet. full face no visor. |
I think I have lots of video with you in the car :)
Since they canceled tomorrows festivities at VIR I'm taking the day off and investing in some software so I can upload, download, compress, etc.... Once I have the winzip or some type of software that will allow me to open zip files I'll let you know and you and your buddy can send me some pics and I can send you some video. Thanks, Fritz |
Hey Fritz. You can upload those files directly from the links that M's posted.
All you have to do is open the link. Once the image is completely loaded on your computer screen you can just right click on the image and choose "save picture as." Then you just choose where you want to save the file and what you want to call it. You can do this for any 99% of the images that are posted on the internet. Of course these instructions are only valid if you are using internet explorer as your browser. If you are using some other program then all bets are off. You can also save different threads on the Forum by going to the "File" menu in internet explorer and choosing "save as." Unfortunately you need to save each page of the thread as a separate file. I have been doing this for some time just so that I have a copy of information that I think will be useful to me later. Some times websites disappear over time and so the information might not be there any more and so I save it to my computer as a backup. Hey M's......how long have you been at VT. I have never seen you around here before. - Cody |

yup, fritz is an instructor and sometimes group 3 does ride alongs too.
I'm pretty sure you've seen or at least heard my FC around. I only bring it down here when the weather is nice though. What 7 do you have? I think i talked to you last year in front of the CCVT guys, i am not a fan of them. |
Re: Re: Re: My New Track Monster
Originally posted by VTAOE Hey Fritz. How did you manage to give M's a ride. For the past few years MSCW has not allowed passenger's unless you are an instructor. My Dad and I used to ride in each others car every once in a while, but they stopped allowing passengers unless you are an instructor. You haven't become an instructor lately right? - Cody Thanks for the help with the computer stuff :) Are you and Dean coming to MSCW event in March? Currently instructing for NASA, Audi club, and Z-club. If you get a chance both the Audi club and z-club give you a decent amount of track time and both groups are run well. NASA is great because the races are going on at the same time but the track time is about 30 mins less per day. However once your in group 3 you can pass anywhere which is a blast. NASA runs a really tight show and will probably be the best learning enviroment because the classroom time is longer and the track time is more intense. I hope grad school is going well and the job search is proving lucrative :) See you at track, Fritz PS actually mscw is the only group that ask me if someone could ride along while I was driving as a student. Both times John Duff approached me about it. He is really laid back so I'm sure if you or your dad wanted to ride along with each other he would have no problem with it. |
Hey Fritz a quick question? What kind of Bridgestone tiers is it on the car? S03?
I used that on my FD this summer and was wery please with them. They lasted about 15 minutes before overheating. But im going for semi slicks this summer. Bridgestone RE540 JT |
I'm not sure which bridgestone is on the car but they are not s02s or 3s they are harder. One of the best street/track tires is the s03 which is what I would recommend. They have great wet and dry traction on the track and are not too heavy. Any street tire will start getting greasy pretty quick but its also fun to slide around and you can practice your slip angles :)

I didn't know Fritz was an instructor until this thread. You have to understand that I helped introduce Fritz into these high speed driving events a long time ago. I just don't have the cash to do it as often as he does. I have managed to work up into the intermediate group and probably will move up to the advanced group after 2 or 3 more sessions. I'm not in any big hurry though. I am having fun in the intermediate group just the same. - Cody |
