It must've been the cinematography, or the fact that this was an instructional session, but that video looked like a Sunday drive. I don't mean that in a disparaging way... the shifting seemed lethargic, the exhaust was stock-sounding almost, the braking was very gradual instead of at-the-limit of control that you would expect, and you easily pulled ahead of those Modena's in a straight line. But since you were instructing, I presume they were just trying to learn the line anyway so you were coasting through.

You saw "lethargic" while I saw "smooth". I don't think he was trying to "learn" the line - his turn ins, apexes and track-out seemed pretty much spot on. Now I'm not an instructor, nor do I play one on TV, but over the years I've had many in my car. I have seen some that were almost violently twitchy in throwing the car around the track. I've had others who made a very big point of not upsetting the balance of the car. Both had something very valuable to teach me.

if you didnt have a stock seat, you could relax, and not have to grip the steering wheel do hard, and it would help you w. head room.

Danky. Definitely no more than 7/10s driving there. I consistently remind myself that I'm in a street car.

There were two 355 challenge cars there, and they were sinkin fast. It was great fun to watch them play with each other.

Dang, Paul, I've got to bring the Beast out to one of your events so we can really lay down a waxing on those fellas. I guess if I had over 100K of machine I'd probably nurse it like they were...no I wouldn't. Hell, I've got 60K in my car and I flogged it pretty good by the 4th session my first day (ran a 2:23 in group 1 with passing only on the straights, stuck in really timid newbie traffic in the turns). I can't believe how quiet your car is - I've got Pettit's race muffler and even with the resonated midpipe it still make quite a racket - do you have the RB muffler?

And yes, Paul drives a smooth line - for those of you not familiar with Thill you can see how at mark 3:47 (turn 3) Paul is a good 1/2 car width closer in to the inside that the 355. That turn is off camber about 1.5 degrees on the inside, and goes to around 3 degrees off camber if you get more than a car width wide. That's why he so easily caught the 355 cabriolet through that corner without adding any throttle - the 355 driver had their left side in the 3 degree off camber zone and it probably made the ass end of that rear engined car very light, even at those slower speeds.

Shoot, your HOD events are so blessed expensive....but it's hard to ignore the amount of track time you provide.....my employment issues continue to be murky and until that gets sorted out my racing time is limited.

Going out with your students is like shooting fish in a barrel! No surprise you could catch them and leave 'em in the weeds. That said, you still whipped Ferrari butt with a lowly 7, and that is going to be fun. Got to admit, I did the same kind of thing this weekend at a school. Satisfying, but hollow. Ya' gotta beat your peers to have meaning, as opposed to just fun.
