Well I have nothing to report on the dampers as the car didn't race this weekend. I scheduled an alignment for Friday morning and after a thorough nut and bolt check we tossed the lasers on it and found that the right rear had -3.5 degrees of camber. The left had 1.8.
After some staring and a straight edge ruler we saw that the right rear control arm has a slight twist in it. It's possible I could have just run it, but I made the safer decision to kill the race and order new parts. Meanwhile, the tech that was helping me setup the car (he does a lot of race cars) took the car out for a little toodle - coming back to say "I have no idea how you drive this thing fast." His feedback is leading to some driveability changes that will mean tossing the Wilwood pedal box out and installing my Tilton top-hinge setup, which should allow a lot more leg room and also allow for a larger steering wheel (current is 12.5"). |
What do you think about just having a firewall mount brake pedal like the one Wilwood offers and keeping stock throttle and clutch pedals? Or do you have to replace both brake and clutch pedals together? I haven't looked under there at the stock setup just yet

Think that damage happened in the rollover?

Last night the old arm came out
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d0cde79543.jpg And the new one went in along with a set of Mazdatrix camber adjusters. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...9269bdd88c.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...36bdfe71eb.jpg The exhaust needs to be redone as it was used as a crash structure. Car aligns perfectly now and we're ready to shake it down at an autocross this weekend. |

Who is running a rear sway bar with their Ford 8.8 setup and what did you have to do to make one fit?
|
I believe Akina FC runs one. He is over on Norotors.

The RX7 returned to hillclimbing this weekend, competing at Okemo. The car needed some adjustments, mainly from the driver, but confidence quickly grew and times dropped. By the end of the weekend we had earned a P3 class victory by a margin of three seconds.
I'm sure there's more time in the car, but it takes time to find the limits of a car. This weekend I'm running a 2-day track event in Canaan NH, which should help us further dial things in. |
Did the lights popup from itself or did you pushed the lever?
