Any new estimate on when these will ship? I finally (after 7 months) got all the parts of my M2 front brake kit so I'm anxious to get the brakes done now.

First, I want to apologize for the delay. The problem has stemmed from my metal cutter not getting the cuts right ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS! We hound them every day, and we kept getting excuses. Evidently at some point their cutting machine did break, as well.
Anyway, I went back down and worked with the CAD operator a week and a half ago, and we made sure that everything was correct, FINALLY. Then they made some prototypes and sent them to me to make sure they were right, which they were. Then they wanted them back so they could match each one up to the known good ones. They finally received them on Wednesday of this past week, and they should already be cut. I should have them at some point on Monday, and I will start my welding and cutting. Once that is done, they will start shipping out right away.

I'm sorry for the delay, but it points at why I need to purchase more of my own production equipment, because you cannot rely on anybody...

As far as being slow to respond to some who have made contact with me, I'm sorry. We just had a premature baby (our first), and she has been in the hospital more than home, it seems. We just brought her home Tuesday, after she had abdominal surgery. My spare moments have been spent making trips to the hospital, which is more than an hour away in each direction, without any traffic. Hopefully things are going to start to settle down now...

Just an update off on Nick's update. We have completed 5 sets so far this week (Wednesday), and one set has already shipped (John M., I believe it was yours). The other 4 are shipping Thursday, and we may even get a couple more sets done and shipped out then as well.

There's a TON of labor involved in these ducts (In order: cutting, crushing, more cutting, grinding, sanding, more crushing, more sanding/grinding, welding......you get the idea), but we're getting them out as quickly as possible. You should all have your set soon.

BTW for those wondering, the ducts are stainless steel, and VERY sturdy.

Got mine yesterday and installed them. Yes, they are VERY sturdy. I found that I needed to grind one of the holes a little larger to fit right on my car and yes... those things are tough... took forever to grind just the little tiny bit I needed. Now it fits perfectly and looks great too. Time to test them on the Track tomorrow!

Is it to late to order another pair?> and whats the average price?

John Magnuson 05-16-04 10:59 PM

I just wanted everyone to know that the N2 ducts worked beautifully for me at my 3 day time trial at the California Speedway this weekend. This track is well known for killing brakes but I had zero problems.

digdug, I am friends with the new owner of the car in your sig, Peter's old car. I got to sit in it and check it out. It has some pretty nice equipment in it.

I just saw the pics of the brake ducts, they look like their made of PVC piping? I hope Im wrong right?

John Magnuson 05-25-04 12:20 PM

PVC? I doubt it. Mine sure won't. The backing plate is very hefty stainless steel and the inlet duct is metal piping like the type used for exhaust systems.

Sorry it was painted white, and it looked like it, I apologize.

Does anyone have any creative idea of how to route the duct hose? Currently mine just goes up into the corners of the front opening for the radiator. I just have the mouth of the hose ziptied open so that it catches air. It would be better to have a dedicated duct but I don't want to block off too much airflow from my radiator. Ideally I would like to use the stock R1 model brake ducts but they seem to be too far outboard to allow me to route the hose without it coming into contact with the tire. Any ideas?

Mr. Stock 06-04-04 09:25 PM

Has anyone else received his ducts yet? I have not received mine and I am wondering whether I should give a call to Nick.

artowar 06-05-04 02:37 AM

Received mine last week.

Mr. Stock 06-14-04 02:57 PM

I received mine last thursday.

I noticed that the "tube" is welded only at 4 places to the backing plate. Is that how it is supposed to be?

I'll post a pic when I get a chance.

John Magnuson 06-14-04 06:19 PM

Yeah, that's how mine were. Not to worry... it should be plenty strong enough.

DrPJM1 06-22-04 06:08 AM

Has any other people received their ducts yet?
