Bushing in the transmission mount brace
 

Since my car is still street legal, rather than go with solid bushings, I went with a full set of Mazda competition rubber mounts for the transmission and differential. The question that I had was the bushing in the transmission mount brace.

Would it make any sense to fill the voids in this bushing with say 55 durometer polyurethane window adhesive?

I have used this material in the past on several other vehicles to fill in the voids in rubber bushings (both suspension and mount) that were designed primarily with compliance and NHV in mind and not true/full containment.

Over a hundred views and no comments. So either I am being way too anal and worrying about something that doesn't need to be done or I came up with something no one else had thought of before. I tend to think it is more likely the former than the latter.

Sounds like a good idea, I used to pound nails into the motor mounts on my first VW Rabbit racecar.

Did you have them attached to a string in the cockpit?

No, but I did use the parking brake lever to adjust the rear sway bar...(not legal) Having the nails to release would imply that I thought I would be out front:lol:

after replacing the two tranmission mounts with mazdacomp mounts, I don't think that bushing is going to get much load on it... it's probably not worth it.

I say fill it or punch the metal sleeve out tearing the rubber tabs and press in a metal sleeve that fits with no voids.

I don't know how, but even with full Mazdacomp mounts on the car that transmission mount still breaks off the rubber connecting the steel sleeve to the bushing and the giant washer with rubber pad under the trans mount gets all bendy.

Hmm, you have me thinking. See what i can come up with.

think im going to make some sort of a rubber spacer to take the space up so the bushing cannot slide up.
