It could be, but I'm almost 75% positive that the GCR states it must be in a box. It's just something to keep in mind and check on if one wants to stay "legal" to the exact letter of the rules.
As far as wire size, you could get progressively smaller. Battery to starter 2 AWG, starter to alternator 4 AWG, and alternator to main fuse 6 AWG. Those are already bigger than the stock wires. |
It (SOLO II rules) used to state that the + term MUST be insulated. Also in the tech insp section it tells the techs to look at relocated batteries and make sure they are in a non-conductive box. Funny how they dont mention that in the car classing rule specifications. Shame on your tech inspectors.
