Accusump in Rotaries? roadracers?
 

Hey guys, I was just planning my oiling system and I was wondering if anyone here is running an accusump on their Rotary engine? Had to specify as there are a few LSx conversions here.

Anybody running these?

3qt with manual valve. I close the valve around 80-100psi before shutting the engine off and open before starting. Never have a dry start and the added oil capacity only helps, no reason not to run one.

can you post up pics of your setup? I was debating between electric vs. manual valve

I don't have any on my computer and my shop is 20 mins away. I will be there tomorrow and try to remember to get some. Mine is setup with a T fitting off the rear iron oil inlet, on the front side of the T is a check valve (when I pressurize a cold system the oil goes into the motor rather than oil cooler) and then a line to the oil cooler, on the other side of the T is a line looping over the motor and to a bulkhead fitting on the passenger firewall, from there it goes to a manual valve located near the shifter area and then proceeds to the Accusump which is mounted in the center in the rear bin area (passenger floorboard was already congested and wanted minimum angles in the lines). It's all -10AN braided hose and fittings which is where the cost adds up but I think worth it. An electric valve is one more thing to malfunction or break, manual valve just becomes part of the normal start/stop process. Kill - ign - fuel - valve - start button, shut down is reverse minus the start button.

I know two IT7 guys, one runs an accusump, the other does not. As cheap as they are I don't see a good reason not to have the extra insurance.

I simply attach my dewalt drill with a 7/16 socket and it produces 42psi within 2-3 seconds. It's not cheap but it works very well.

I've never used an accusump but I have heard good things from people who do.
