Okay, I have to ask... Does anyone know why there aren't any clubs running events at Summit Point until practically the end of May? Are they still repaving Main? It looks like SP has a number of their own combined drift/hpde-type events (http://www.driftnirvana.com) on Shenandoah, but that shouldn't preclude any other clubs from running there on other weekends. NASA isn't even having an event at Summit Point until Hyperfest in June! The NASA March event at VIR is during a NASCAR weekend and from what I hear all the hotels are already booked. It's looking like it's going to be a long boring spring.

ptrhahn 02-11-08 05:26 PM

The SPR main is already repaved—I drove it last year.

I am going to attend this event in March for the HPDE. Thanks for sharing the link.

Is it possible to get access to edit the top post of this thread so I can keep it updated with current information and additions? Mods?

ArmitageGVR4 04-14-08 08:51 AM

Registration for NASA Hyperfest @ Summit Main is open.

ArmitageGVR4 06-12-08 11:25 AM

Anyone else going to Hyperfest? I'll be there.

Thinking about signing up for the MB event in July on Shenandoah as well. Details here:

http://www.gws-mbca.org/SummitPoint08.html

ptrhahn 06-12-08 11:59 AM

I'm going to try and make the FATT on the 20th, right before Hyperfest.

DigDug 06-12-08 02:33 PM

I'll probably be at hyperfest Saturday, but I'm not in the HPDE (too many events at VIR coming up).

I actually haven't driven Summit in a long time so I'd love to ride along for a session if anybody's offering. ;)

ArmitageGVR4 06-12-08 02:37 PM

I haven't driven the repaved main course yet either, so it'll be interesting to see how much it's changed. If you find me in the paddock and noone's already in the passenger seat I'd be happy to give rides, but be prepared to be underwhelmed by my stock power and stock suspension on street tires!

dbgeek 06-13-08 05:45 AM

I'll be there instructing, and I love to give rides. Grey FC Sport, #34, ugly, peeling black hood ;)

DigDug 06-16-08 09:24 AM

I'll find you guys in the paddock on Saturday then.

Anybody going to VIR north July 4th weekend?

ArmitageGVR4 06-23-08 11:10 AM

Made it through Hyperfest in one piece. Next event I'm registered for is with the Mercedes Benz club 7/26-27 on the Shenandoah. Would be nice to see some other rotaries there ;)

http://www.gws-mbca.org/SummitPoint08.html

ptrhahn 06-23-08 12:57 PM

I found out I'd be giving rides on the JC, so I bailed on Hyperfest and instructed at FATT on Friday. There was a BIG crowd coming in when I left.

If you hadn't driven the main circuit repaved, you're already too late. The 12-hour event tore up the asphalt in T1, T4, T5 and elsewhere. I see bumpy concrete patches in the offing.

ArmitageGVR4 06-23-08 01:18 PM

Yea, I was disappointed in the surface conditions and they deteriorated over the weekend. No small wonder with all the traffic + drifting they were doing. I think I saw you leaving Friday evening when I was in the line of traffic waiting to get into the paddock.

wrankin 06-23-08 03:55 PM

Anyone going to Rockingham for the NCR SCCA PDX this weekend?

Anybody else going to VIR July 25-27 with NASA?

I will be at Summit Shen that weekend with the MB club. I may try for a VIR date later in the season when it cools down a bit ;)

There are two full course events back-to-back at the end of August (Trackdaze 8/28-29 and Mazda Drivers 8/30-31) but it won't really cool down by then. I'll be at one of those, slow-cooking in the car. Not sure what's next after that.

ArmitageGVR4 07-21-08 08:05 AM

I'll be out of town on vacation during the August days... I was hoping to resume in September but the schedule of events (for all clubs) is looking pretty thin. Not sure why as Sep. can have really perfect track weather :(

DigDug 07-21-08 12:07 PM

There are a few events coming up at the new Thunderbolt track in NJ. I might try to make the 10/10-12 PCA event. Rolex will be there at the end of August. :)

DigDug 07-28-08 09:43 AM

Anybody going to Mazda Drivers 8/30-31 at VIR full course?

I'd like to, but the FD is going to be my daily driver for the next month or so while I do an engine swap and overhaul on my VR4. I will try to get to one of the other VIR events later in the fall though.

wrankin 07-29-08 10:27 AM

Unfortunately this year the MDA falls on my anniversary weekend, so probably not. :(

Have fun,

ArmitageGVR4 08-26-08 02:14 PM

Man this season is drawing to a close already... Not many chances left to get to VIR before the year is out for me... I'm looking at these dates with these clubs but have no experience with any of them.

10/6-7 Potomac PCA
10/13-14 Tarheel BMW
10/20-21 First Settlers PCA
11/11-12 Car Guys

Not sure all of them allow other marques even. Anyone have experience with these clubs?

patfat 08-26-08 03:22 PM

Potomac PCA is Porsche only. The others are all marques. That being said I don't think Car Guys will do their event this November. I have a feeling they are going to go out of business. Aryan has canceled a ton of his events this year due to poor attendance.

DigDug 08-26-08 08:36 PM

FYI there are still a few slots open for Mazda Drivers this weekend on the full course.

All the PCA's (PCA Citrus, Crown, Coastal Empire) I've been to take other marques.

I'd check their site and give their DE Organizer a call.

Fritz Flynn 08-27-08 08:32 AM

I'll be at VIR w/ the BMW tarheel chapter around the 12th to 14th and hopefully later w/ Audi (I think in NOV) Both of these clubs are outstanding to drive with.

DigDug 09-02-08 02:16 PM

Anybody running NJMP Thunderbolt 10/10-12 with Delaware PCA? Registration's open, plenty of space available.

Track looked pretty cool in the Rolex race this weekend, would be nice if it had some grass though. Might be time to order that tow hook. :)

ArmitageGVR4 09-02-08 02:50 PM

Really not sure yet. I'm racing in the 24 hrs of LeMons on 9/13-14th, and I'll figure out what events to do in Oct/Nov after that's done with. I would like to try the new track so I've added that date to the calendar :) I did sign up for a CDC AutoX in MD on 9/27 though. Gotta keep that Mazda Motorsports membership active ;)

DigDug 09-02-08 04:20 PM

Good luck in the Lemons race. :icon_tup:

I'm registered for the PCA event but if it's as fun as it looks, I might do another one there later this fall. There is also a NASA NE event in November.

ArmitageGVR4 09-16-08 11:20 AM

I'm signed up for the Track Daze event the first weekend of October. Still haven't decided what event to run in Nov, but it may be NASA Summit Main.

dbgeek 09-16-08 05:40 PM

I'll be at Track Daze Shenandoah too. Stop by - I'll be instructing in a grey FC.
