ChitownR1 - anyone else dealt w/him?
 

Well, I don't normally post this type of thread but I also have never had any bad experiences in almost 6 years of dealing with fellow forum members. I have lost my patience waiting for my parts or a refund, so feel it is necessary to warn the community.

11/22/06 - I send ChitownR1 $600 + shipping for parts posted in the FD section. I go out of my way to get him the funds quickly, he states they will be shipped out ASAP. I realize it is right before Thanksgiving so there may be a slight delay. I ask for tracking #s several times via email, PMs on here and AIM and get no #.

2 weeks later, 12/5/06 - nothing. I ask what's going on and he states he's "having problems getting the package to my address," and that the package is being returned for some reason. I give him the benefit and blame the holiday season, although I have been receiving other packages at the same time with no issues. I also received no door tags, calls, or anything from FedEx stating that they attempted delivery.

Another week passes - nothing. No tracking #s provided. Keep in mind that at this point my project FD is on hold waiting for these parts. I have come to the point where I can't do much else on the car unless I have the parts.

FF to 12/18/06 - still nothing. At this point I have sent several emails/PMs with 0 responses. Still no tracking #, call or package.

1/2/07 - nothing. At this point I have lost my patience and give up on the parts ever showing up. For all I know they were never sent. I ask nicely for a refund as I can't wait any longer and I want to finish working on the FD - I will just source the parts elsewhere.

1/6/07 still nothing - no refund, no parts. It has been over 6 weeks now and I have nothing to show for it other than a bunch of excuses and lost $.

I realize that the holiday season slows things down a bit, but c'mon.. the package should have been here long ago. I know for a fact that it doesn't take that long as I have received other items from forum members after our deal began and I received them within a week with no issues. Also the fact that he could never provide a tracking # doesn't help his credibility much.

I'm posting this in hopes that he will clear his name and fix this, but for now I cannot recommend dealing with him.

I thought you should read this thread if you haven't already. It seems another forum member is having a problem with him as well. It also seems that he's giving EVERYONE the same excuses in regards to returned shipments.

I don't know ChiTown R1 personally nor have I ever met him, but we do live in the same general area and I KNOW for a fact a few other forum members on here have met him in person. I believe the BEST way to sort things out would be do a "search" for his username in the "MIDWEST SECTION" and you'll find a few threads of his. Look for one which is relatively long and that discusses setting up a Chicago Meeting. In there you should find his personal information and also you should be able to figure out who exactly attended his meet so you can PM them directly for further information regarding him.

I REALLY REALLY hate scammers and I hope this guy isn't one of them, but you never know. This is EXACTLY why I always stress do NOT buy things from members with no reputation whatsoever. This happens all too often. PM me if you need anything else. I'm sure us Chicagoans will be more than willing to help.

I specifically made a point of searching the forum before I agreed to buy these parts from him. At the time (late Nov.), I found nothing bad mentioned about him in any threads, so I figured he was trustworthy.. perhaps I was wrong.

Ok so after finally getting you to respond you give me a FAKE TRACKING NUMBER that doesnt exist in the fedex system as i have checked for the last 3 days,you didnt send no pics to my email, and you are taking your sweet time in letting me know what is going on.After giving me some excuse that "the shipping company sent it back to me" i asked why and got this"honestly i dont know"now i have sent you and email to both addresses you gave me stating the legal actions i will take against you so i suggest you respond and get my stuff to me NOW!

He's had my fmic for a while now and its on his car now.

First off I have sent this package out to Smegol three times. He has given me a new address to send it to and I am waiting to see if he gets it now. I am not here to rip anyone off and fully plan on seeing these two deals through to the end.

You both have my contact info and my personal cell phone and address. I am not someone trying to pull anything here I am jsut having trouble getting smegol his stuff. I said to him on Tuesday if the package is not out there by this coming Tuesday I will refund his money.

As far as lean back goes I traded him for the IC and was out of town for the holidays. I got the spoiler/Wing/tailight cover out to him on Tuesday as well and he is in Canada. If it is not there by Thursday of this coming week I will work with Lean Back to take care of things through paypal instead.

I apologize to both parties involved and do not wish to cause you any more problems. I have been a little slow getting packages out and I will try my best to inprove upon this in the future.

If you care concerned about these deals and their outcome please check back here on Thursday to see who has received their items and who hasn't. I will keep a diary of what takes place on this forum between now and then. I don't want this to get out of hand because although I have been slow getting these packages out, I am a good seller and buyer and have zero problems other then these two deals.

Also Lean back to reffer back to you stating I gave you a fake tracking number is absolutly not true. The FedEx airbill was photographed and sent to your cell phone as you requested. If I am willing to take pictures of the actuall receipts for these items being sent out why would you post that I am giving you fake numbers.

I realize you said you sent it out three times, but you have to admit it looks bad when I ask for a tracking # and get no reply. Even after repeated emails/PMs/IMs, no tracking #s. I mean, how hard is it to send a tracking #?

I had planned to call FedEx myself and find out what the heck is going on, but they cannot do anything without a tracking #. It's also not very assuring knowing you have that much $$ tied up in parts, and have no shipping info to back up anything.

Nothing has been received at the other address I provided. I gave you that info on 12/21/06. When was it sent out? I know X-Mas and New Year's are in there, but even that has been over 2 weeks. The longest I have ever seen anything take via FedEx or UPS ground is 5-6 business days, and that was from coast to coast.

I'm not trying to launch some sort of personal attack against you, just stating the facts. You have to agree though that if you bought something from another forum member on here and had nothing to show for it 6 weeks later, you'd be a little upset.

Well, Tuesday has come & gone..

As of today, I still have nothing.. no packages (at either address provided), no tracking #s, and no refund. What's the deal here?

I've waited long enough. Either provide a tracking # proving the package was sent & is en route, or a refund. I can't keep my project on hold any longer because of this, I'm really tired of seeing the car just sitting there waiting on these parts.

Seriously, I doubt 1 day longer is going to make any difference. I mean, we're approaching the 2 month mark here pretty soon. I could've ordered parts from Australia and had them shipped by boat quicker than this.

Thanks for the info/support, guys. The problem really isn't getting ahold of this guy (although sometimes it does take days to get any response), it's the fact that I still have no parts or refund after this long. There's no real excuse for that.

Still nothing. I've sent 3-4 emails over the past week and heard nothing back. No package, no tracking number, no refund. This is really starting to piss me off.

We are starting a company here in IL called Thugs For Hire, it's not a violent group, and it's all legal like. Just a group of very intimidating guys who does collections for a fee. I'll be out of town until next weekend, but if you don't get any results by then, shoot me a pm.

I have tried to be patient during this whole mess, but there is a limit to that. Something that should have taken 5-6 days to get here has turned into weeks, and is soon approaching the 2 month mark.

The lack of communication & info in general is not very reassuring either, nor good for ChitownR1's credibility I would imagine. I'm leaving that up to the forum members to call though.

ChitownR1: So it's been 3+ weeks since I've given you that 2nd address and nothing has show up there, nor the original address. Obviously it's not going to, so what's up with the refund you promised last week?

well heres my side of it. i recieved a call from fedex stating the had got a package on the 12th but they cant ship it out cause he gave them a wrong account number!!! they tried numerous times to reach him but no response.Now i gave him a number to call them directly and get this sorted out.I finally got a response and it got shipped out.

NOW i agreed to swap my fmic for a authentic RE AMEMIYA tail light cover as he has posted in the original thread.

What do i recieve after all this Shit???

Unfortunately ic3 will do you no good. I have not seen one victim on this forum get any results at all thru them....ever. The best course of action is to go thru the local police first, but it is important to compile a list of everyone he has ripped off (along with dollar amounts) and any other evidence (receipts, etc.) in order to present to the police a pattern of action. 1 or 2 at a time will get overlooked, however if you present the police with a mound of evidence and a sizable dollar amount they will be much more likely to take notice and actually pursue the case.

I'd still have a some people go say hi to him and see what his real excuse is.

Not that I'm aware of. I asked those involved last weekend whether they were OK with the situation as it stood. No real replies. I have no idea what the current situation is.

He tried to trade me his supposed (new in plastic) 94 panels for a set of flares that I have on hand. Soon as I did some research on the web I had UPS stop the shipment. He was supposed to provide pics to prove that he ever really owned the panels last week. Still waiting. Based on the non-existence of these pictures it is safe to say that he attempted to scam me by claiming to own something that he simply did not.

Someone just needs to go talk to this ChitownR1 troll in person. He obviously thinks everyone on this forum is a joke and will continue to lie.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this. I think some of the forums member who lives near around his area should pay him a vist and really get up, close and personal with him.
He should at least give you call and talk to you personally about your stuff and your money. I hope everything will work out for you.
