wired porblem w/ power fc in FB

Mods of the FB are as follows
Engine - 13B-RE (Cosmo) w/GSL-SE Front cover
Turbo - Stock S4 TII
Exhaust - 3" DP all the way back into 2.5" muffler
Injectors - 550 Primary 880 Secondary
Electronics - S5 AP enginering Power FC w/ banzai adapter for S4 harness kit and S4 crank angle sensor

Here is the problem, I loaded in the base map I got from Banzai Tuning and it had a lil' trouble idleing. So I search for a 3rd gen map in the FC forum and loaded that in. when I did that the car was idleing better. The car's idle goes up to 1300 rpm when started up cold and settles down to 900 rpm. then the car just dies out. When i take the car for a spin around the block , it feels like drives fine. When I look at the FC Commander the numbers from the leading and trailing are 15L and 10T at idle. Sometimes it would be at 10 Leading and 0 Traling. Would the cause the car to die all of a sudden? Another thing about the car is that everytime i start the car a cloud of smoke would come out the exhaust and it smells like gas. Has anybody ever experienced this?

Did you tell us that you were installing our adapter on an AP PFC? The reason I ask is there is a wire that needs to be cut.

Did you follow our how to for wiring up the Cosmo TPS? Did you adjust the TPS? What map sensor are you using? Did you buy Kit #1 or #2?
If you are using the FD MAP sensor then you may have to change the settings on our map to "normal" from "option 2"
Did you install the FD IAT?
Did you keep the TB coolant lines for the thermowax? You may just need to adjust the watertemp correction values.

You would be better off reloading the map we sent and adjusting the fuel in the idle cells. The stock FD map is not that great.

Try this

no i did not tell you i was installing the kit on the AP power fc. which wire am i suppose to cut? cosmo tps is adjusted correctly. Running a GM 3bar map sensor and FD IAT. I am not running the TB coolant lines. Would that be the problem?

Cut the PFC 2B wire in the adapter harness.

Not running the TB coolant is fine as long as you eliminated the mechanism as well. You also need to lean out the water temp correction as the throttle plates will not be open allowing the extra air in.

You followed our how to on the TPS? http://www.banzai-racing.com/how_to_cosmo_tps.htm

can you post a pic of the plug connector showing which wire to cut.

Banzai-Racing 12-13-08 05:41 AM

It is the second connector from the right, the smallest one. It only has two wires in it. 2B is the first wire on the right end of the bottom row.

krazy_1st_gen 12-15-08 01:59 AM

So once I cut the wire, everything should be okay right?

Banzai-Racing 12-15-08 05:46 AM

No, I can't say that. I didn't do the install and have never seen your car. It undoubtedly needs tuning. The one wire just needs to be cut because you are using an S5 AP PFC with our adapter that is designed for the FD PFC.

can you also give me a vacuum diagram for the 13b-re setup. i can't seem to get me bov to release all the pressure after the throttle closes.

Banzai-Racing 12-17-08 04:19 AM

Can't help you there. You can look at our engine bay, but I used -4an braided hose for all of our vacuum/boost lines. The BOV I have routed to the back side of the UIM. If you have an adjustment screw on the BOV, like the Greddy or Blitz, then just loosen it so that that it doesn't take as much pressure to keep it open.

The key has to be on......if it is not that then it is a cable issue.
