What's in YOUR engine bay?
Didn't see a thread like this anywhere, so I figured I would start one. I just bought an 88 'Vert with no motor/tranny, and I started planning to go the 20B route... But then, happened upon this section and started having visions of different swaps... So, I figured what the hell, let's start the definitive list of who's got what...
So, here's mine: 88 'Vert, no motor, no tranny. |

Does anyone make a kit to swap the 2jz?
|
You should try to find a 2JZ-GTE engine/trans first. They are a PITA to get and are very costly. I think someone on here was offering subframes for sale. You will need a custom hood I believe to make it fit. The engine is very long.
LS1/FD here. Last minute details getting sorted out. |

stock '98 LS1/T56 here.
and its fun as hell in my '87 Sport. I wish I'd known about these swaps 5 years ago! |
I got them from Phase 2 Motorsports a few years ago. I'm not sure if they're still around or not. They were $700 then. Now you can get them for about $600, I think.

Where are you guys getting these LS1/T56s from? What else do you have to do to get them in there?

Hinson sells mounting equipment for putting them into an FC. It's slightly more complicated than that, but it's about 99% bolt in. |

I paid $4.5K for a low mileage 99, with a T56, PCM, and wiring harness. I don't remember what the exact mileage was, but it was really low. Your best bet would be to buy an entire drivetrain, including the harness and computer. That way you know all of the parts work together. Of course, if you look around you can piece together a complete drivetrain pretty easily, and probably for less. What happened to the 20b? |
