Such a repost.

What a waste of a nice looking fd.

I hate supras and any motor other than a rotary in a rx7.

crazy...

All that fabrication and they couldn't make a hood fit?

that has to be the most ignorant statement I have ever heard, the mkiv supra engine is one of the best engines ever built, although heavy it can easily support 550whp on stock internals.

550? my friend has 780 to the wheels with 140,000 miles on the motor. He drives to the track and drives his car home. I wish I can do that to my 7. Those motors are amazing.

Exactly. The 2JZ motor is probably the greatest motor ever built. The japanese got one thing right.

Ive seen dyno pulls over 900whp on stock internals. Preference does not matter, it IS a great engine. Period.

Cool swap, but i believe the 2JZ GTE especially with those 2 monster hairdryers is going to weigh a fair bit more than the 13B-REW (i could be wrong, correct me please).

Its a pity really because its a cool swap, still good for goin fast in a straight line though.

Well it obviously would, but that's why they chose the RX7 body

Next time you post, pull your head out of your ass for a second to see which forum you are in. There is a reason this is called "Other Engine Conversions" and not "Masturbate the Wankel."

I like the 2JZ but the weight is a bit much for a chassis like the FD. That's why my next project is going to be a 4g63. The 4g63 is like the 2JZ of 4-cylinders. The lighter engine, I think, would be a better match in the lighter RX-7 chassis. Plus, while you can't make as much power on stock internals as the 2JZ, you can make obscene, dangerous amounts of power with the engine.

Still, like others have already said, it's a great engine. It looks pretty damn good in that car, too.

I agree with the eh....essence...of your post. But in fairness, I think this started out in the 3rd gen. section and got moved. :D

It seems that there have been a lot of these "It's sacrilige to put a non-rotary engine into an RX-7" in this subforum lately. As if the point of this forum was to eradicate all ideas of any possible non-rotor engine swaps. It's annoying to the people who are here to discuss other interesting engine swaps.

I think a straight-six swap would be a better option if the engine in question had an aluminum block. Especially in a turbo application, with the extra weight of accompanying components, I know personally I would prefer a lighter alternative. But then again, the 2JZ is such a great engine and there's so many parts for it.

And if I'm running a 3.0L six-cylinder, I'd rather use a single turbo setup instead of twins. I mention this because the VQ35 seems like it could be a decent alternative, but with a turbocharged setup, I'd have to go with twins for efficiency. But like I said, I'd rather use one big snail instead of two. Maybe a supercharged VQ35 would be a good way to go?

how many rx7s run in the 6s? good...

how many supras run in the 6s? great

which one weight less? excelent

which one looks more exotic and sexier? get my point?
