I remember protech out of austin knew the guy with the yellow one with the supra motor in it a few years back and said it was slower because it couldn't put the power down with nose heavy and all the torque. it was just counter productive

That just doesn't make sense. Can the Supra motor be that much heavier than my Ford V8? I only added about 120 pounds to the weight of my 84GSL, and most of that is in the big automatic tranny, which is pretty far back and doesn't affect the balance much. As for "all the torque", why else would you be doing this? The Supra motor would have more torque than the rotary, but certainly not as much as my 5.0 liter V8 unless you are running a lot of turbo boost. I have no trouble getting the power to the ground.

More than likely a ford 302 would weigh less than a 2jz... 302s are VERY light.

If you mean a 351W its either the same or slightly less.

Either way, if you want to put the power down you set up the suspension for the car to lean back and get sticky tires, just like every joe blow with a mustang and camaro manages to do ;)

I have a 2jz in the shop that i am putting into my 3rd gen.. they are heavy and long... i was gonna go ls1 turbo but im back to the 2j

The 2JZ is a taller engine with more weight higher up than the 13b. I think the RB26 would work better too, because the bore spacing is smaller.

Personally, I'd go with the Toyta 1UZ-FE V8.

LETHAL RX7 09-25-05 09:34 PM

the 1uz is a very sick engine... its like the v8 version of a 2j

"302s are VERY light", you have got to be kidding me. Have you ever tried lifting a bare 302 cast iron block. My friend ordered one from summit and we were both amazed at how much that bare block weighs.
