need help with a swap
ok you guyz i found a 90 modle supra with a good looking motor in it and i was just woundering if itll swap in my second gen. rx7.
|
im sure you can... i have a few pics of a fc w/ a supra motor in it.... but why in gods name would you want.........................nevermind...... its a lost cause.....
short answer..yes, with the right amount of money, it can be done... but why? |
that engine is highly reliable 1jz correct?.. not sure on the specs and don't care enough to google it. I could understand it better if u already had the car that was given to you or you got it for 400$ or something... maybe lol, but i like the idea of an inline 6 better than a v8 ill give you that much

But, now it's ok to swap to a piston engine that does all the things you think the V8 does as long as it's still japanese, right? You kids never cease to amaze me as to the depths your ignorance and idiocy can fall to. |
an inline 6 is stronger built engine internaly more bearings per piston, has better balance, has a good amount of USEABLE torque at appororiate rpms for these light weight cars. They sound better, you can tune them for better gas mileage and still have a great deal of power and they just have a lifetime thats out of this world. now please stfu about calling people ignorant kids on here. i will never swap a piston engine in an rx7 i dont car what anyone says. but there are better configurations out there than v8s as posabilities if you chose to do so. afterall did you ever think to why there are not v8 in semis? and there are H configurations in piston airplanes? the inlne 6 is a better engine for that application it gets them everything they need and you can apply the same principals to cars

this is sad this is very sad  why would anyone want to swap a rotary for an inline 6 however i love that engine its the same engine thats in a skyline but if you want more power just get a 3 rotor or get a 86 supra for about $400 and drop a inline 6 in it
|
smokie... what are you smokin. "Just get a 3 rotor?" you should just get the L6, it's about the same amount of $$ and time to do the 20b as it would be to do the L6.
You can drop in a 4AGE (Toyota L4) or an SR20DET (Nissan L4) in there with little work, and make some serious power. BUT, if you want to make the ultimate power, an LS1 is a great option. If you HAVE to run a 6 cylinder then how about the Buick 3.8L Turbo Grand National engine. Those things are nasty with little work. Just my .02 Jester |

for starters merc63 i said nothing about how PRACTICAL an inline 6 engine would be in a rx7 did I?? I simply stated i like the IDEA better than a v8. UNIQUE is what we are all here for, its why most of us have these cars.. most. theres not a damn thing unique about puting a common engine into a car like this. inline 6 engines sound better yes thats an opinion. i have never heard a v8 that sent chills up my spine, but thats me.
"At about 400 hp, I saw 25 mpg highway from my V8 FC. A Supra engine would be about the same, if that good." wrong, take into consideration any undersized engine pushing a boat like a supra around is going to get poor gas mileage. as you know a supra is not light nor small. swap the engine into an rx7 and you'll see an increase in gas mileage. it's sheer physics, doesn't take much power to move a feather. but I don't have to tell you this right? You already figured this in. i say "now please stfu about calling people ignorant kids on here." kindly ofcorse :) you reply "Not until they stop being so." ..... apparently, all your years on this earth driving o so many more rx7s than me (as if that makes a damn bit of diffrence on this topic) have taught you nothing other than how to be a degrading, arrogant, concescending, bitter old man. NEXT "Do you know what the GMC 8V71 is? Do you know why there aren't any ROTARIES in Semis?" wow you managed to find an exception, maybe i should have worded it diffrently "the majority are inline engines" the second part shouldn't even be in here reply all you want I know you enjoy trying to degrade people... the ignorant kids that we are and all. in my eyes if someone wants to put a piston engine in an rx7 at least make it have a cool factor. if i wanted to see a v8 i'd go look at my 16 year old nebors mustang. |
well i want around 400 hp and ya the swaps will be a lil difficult and the money isue will be kinda bad.but i mean a turbo and a street port and some other mods should get me up there right
