FDs with 2JZ / 1JZ Engine?
Who has a FD with this engine installed and who does the conversions?
Thanks! |
I got a question for you:
What is the interest on the 2JZ (the 1JZ doesn't even warrant attention)? The swap has fitment issues to the point that a special hood with a huge bulge has to be purchased. |
strong/reliable turbo engine
Mods should this be in the engine swap area? I am looking to buy a converted car or pay someone to do the conversion on a FD Looking for best option and shop with best reputation thanks |
Here ya go:
: Tech2 Motorsports : Home : I honestly do not know anything about their rep but it is a start. |
thanks bud appreciate it!

My roommate made his own swap kit and his stock hood fits. This is the only picture I have on my computer right now. Hoping to be up and running this spring. He's doing all the work himself and it still isn't cheap.

^^ Sweet! But I got to ask: So what is the trade off? How low is the engine/oil pan from the floor?
The reason I ask is because there has to be a trade off. Otherwise the the SP engineering car and the tech2 people would have made their engines sit lower. For reference the SP enginering car: https://www.rx7club.com/attachments/...fd-supra-7-jpg Did they ever get a hood for that thing? |
i remember seeing somewhere online theres a kit that allows you to use your stock hood, cant remember the name though

The radiator is the lowest so far. He's got the engine pulled out right now to make it easier to fit the recirculated waste gate piping during fabrication. I'll have to get back you on an exact measurement but he doesn't seem concerned about the clearance. I think it's a little low but at a reasonable ride height it should be ok.
If you're talking about the guy Tony that was on here talking about making kits, be careful. My roommates car is a failed attempt at swapping the 2JZ in a customers car of his. There was bashing I had read on here prior to my roommate getting this car. Once he picked it up and we got to see the craftsmanship of the work done to this car, it was most definitely unsafe to be in a high horsepower toy car. He just told me the car was set at 25" fender from ground front and rear. Inline with the front tires the oil pan clearance was 5 3/4" and the radiator was 5" clearance. He's planning on getting PWR to make a custom radiator that's a little shorter for better clearance plus he plans to have it sit a little higher and put 18's on it. |
There are some figures in my thread.
