Engine swaps avalible...

I am looking to swap the rotary with a 4 or 6 cylinder engine so i wont have to rebuild so much and to save a little money. Tell me of any swaps(besides the corvette and LP1) that you know of. thank you

vrooom305 07-11-04 08:36 PM

here comes the flames.....

on a side note you could try a Chevy L98 350cid or a Ford 302cid

F1blueRx7 07-11-04 08:59 PM

You're not really going to save money... Engine swaps designed for other cars will always end up costing more if not the same (in rare cases) due to the custom brackets required and possibly custom fabrication involved.

RotaryResurrection 07-11-04 09:02 PM

Check ebay or autotrader.com for one of the 4 or 6 cylinder rx-7s that pop up occasionally. Snatch it up with a quickness when you do see one...those are extremely rare base models there. Anyway, get one of those, that engine is a direct swap with what you have.

scheistermeister 07-11-04 10:02 PM

lol, thats wrong! but funny!

Rotaryrockstar 07-11-04 10:16 PM

Homie D 07-11-04 10:34 PM

why are you all gay

Madrx7racer 07-11-04 10:37 PM

 why did you bother with an RX7 if you wanted a 4 banger in there? dood go buy a hinda or something if you want reliability......now...on the topic.....the GNX is a turbo 6 cylinder. bleh!!!

I love this guy, he's awsome!

EDIT: To keep on topic, i hear that an SR20DET swapped in is damn fast...

Radial GT 07-11-04 10:39 PM

The love of the Rotary is lost very easily to a rookie. No love at all. Why buy the only car that sold well with a rotary, and turn around and put a shit ass pisssd-on engine..

apreludem 07-11-04 10:40 PM

LOL owned by kevin :p

Anyways..HOMIED: you are in the wrong forums....try the section with "other swaps" to find your answers.

and yeah, sr20det swaps are nice in 7s....i think ill swap one into my 10th aniv....then ill paint my 10th aniv black >=P

this is what you should do, sell you 7, buy a civic, and then put stickers on that say "MAD FAST YO!!!"

Homie D 07-11-04 11:04 PM

I love RX7s and rotarys but rebuilding it can mean mucho dinero wich i dont have. the way the rx7 looks is why i would sway a grand national motor init. gn istn looking that good. but how easy is the sr swap? is it very comon?

Rotaryrockstar 07-11-04 11:07 PM

Phew... Enough of that.. Anyway Homie I'm sure you get the point.... Rotorheads are probably the most loyal car enthusiasts out there.... Join us and be a 13B driver and you'll have all the support in the world from these guys!

scheistermeister 07-11-04 11:09 PM

if you want a 4 banger 7 get a porsche 944... cheap look like a 2nd gen and have a 4banger for ya

Rotaryrockstar 07-11-04 11:14 PM

Here here! Our Porsche cousin...

scheistermeister 07-11-04 11:25 PM

plus if he does that he'll get flamed a lot more when he asked how to put a turbo on the engine in the pelicanparts forums(my other home!)!

neptuneRX 07-11-04 11:27 PM

yah I agree a 944 might be more in your direction

blackbirdzach 07-11-04 11:30 PM

oh God, do NOT get a 944!!!! You've never had a car that's expensive to maintain until you've had a 944! It's unREAL how much they cost to keep on the road.

Homie D 07-11-04 11:56 PM

ok... since i dont know what pelican parts is. what the hell you talkin about. how easy is thew sr swap and prices?

Madrx7racer 07-11-04 11:57 PM

PM GNX7 about the Grand National swap......I was talking to him about it when my motor blew last year.....i decided to get a factory rebuild instead. if you wanted an SR20 then get an S13/S14.....it seems pointless to buy a car and then DOWNGRADE to a 4 banger....the only reason why a GNX is somewhat acceptable is the power you can push out of it........ V8 is another story though......a bit more weight but ridiculous straight line power... it makes no sense to put a 4 banger in there....:ret:

allforjesus06 07-12-04 12:09 AM

dude they were joking about the sr swap. get over it. if you don't have the money for a rebuild, get a complete 13b motor off of ebay and swap it in. or save your money (wow did you ever think about that one?)

if you try to swap a different motor into the rx-7, you will spend way more money than it'd cost for a rebuild kit...

Homie D 07-12-04 12:12 AM

nigga i got 6000 dollers. Im talking about in the long run i dont want to have to keep rebuilding the damn engine
