OK LS V8 Engine Conversion - NEVER!

My personal opinion is that an LS1 V8 engine has no place in the engine bay of Mazda's spectacular third generation RX7. The car was ahead of its time, and today, the car still looks like a new body style that has just been introduced at the Tokyo or L.A. Autorama. Putting an American V8 in the RX7 is blasphemy! A properly tuned rotary powered RX7 is a thing of beauty. It may impress some people to see a big hunk of American horsepower sitting in the engine bay of an RX7, but I personally think the car becomes a bastard, and resale goes South. What do you think? I will not consider purchasing as LS1 RX7. Respectfully, John J. Garvey

I have enjoyed driving both rotary and LS swapped 3rd gens. Truthfully, I favored the LS for the fact that I got to keep my handling, looks, and feel of the FD while adding gas mileage, reliability, and not smelling like gas/fumes. Is the LS for everyone, absolutely not. Is the LS blasphemy, to some yes, but the vast majority that say that have never rode in one or owned one. But I don’t think the LS ruins the FD by any means... it’s still a Mazda no matter how you slice it.

True enough cause I was never a fan of taking out the rotary but now I'm just glad to see rx7's getting some run mixing it up besides having all the usual suspects.

They’re both cool. I had a good back to back between an LS swap and my big single rotary today, both cars were a blast. The LS had torque everywhere and was more raw feeling, my car is much smoother and has more of a “slingshot” type feel when you get into boost. WOT on the top end they felt about equal (low boost on mine). I’d own one.
