1jz swap.
Yes another one of those guys taking the 'HEART' out of an RX7 and putting in a dreaded cylinder engine.
Has anyone every heard of a 1jzgte Toyota engine swap. I am very SERIOUSLY thinking about doing the swap. I got the money in hand. 280hp and 268tq. With a single turbo swap and bigger injectors and an ecu upgrade i can have some serious HP and good mileage. Let me know what you think. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM THE ROTARIES RULE COMMENTS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_JZ_engine http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...nJZgte/1jz.jpg |
I think I've heard of only 1 person actually doing this swap. I don't know if it was difficult or expensive but it just seems like it would be a lot of work. I think the main problem, well for me if I were to consider the swap, is to actually find a 1jz engine.
If you are 100% with this swap, mind keeping a detailed journal so that we can have it archived? Seems like a sweet swap is you can actually finish it. |
there was a guy out here who put a 1jz in a s14. it looked and sounded pretty mean.
but its all up to you if you really want to get rid of your dorito machine. |
Have you read through the 'Other Engine Conversions' sub-forum? There's at least one other forum dedicated to non-rotary engine swaps, don't recall the name off hand.

If you want something non-rotary, then I say just put a Chevy 350 in it and be done. It will be cheaper, easier to build, more powerful, and get comparable gas mileage. Why mess with a rarer turbo Japanese engine that would be difficult to put in? You have the world's most common engine at your disposal, buy the pre-made kit from Grannies Speed Shop, bolt it all in, little bit of wiring, you're done!
Just a thought. Great fun can be had for less money... |

To all that responded with a V8 swap...
I DONT LIKE V8'S. THE WHOLE POINT IS TO KEEP IT A JAPANESE TUNER TYPE CAR. |
