Great job, colour scheme makes it stand out. Can't wait to hear it running.
Good luck.

Interesting intake setup.

Just wondering if you could fill us in on how the seperate intakes are controlled? Cheers

amemiya rules 03-30-16 10:50 AM

intake is from defined autoworks. i am running 750 primaries and 1250 secondaries. there is an extra cable that goes from the throttle body to the semi p ports. the cable is loose and when given full throttle opens is the butterflys on the semi p ports for more air directly into the semi p ports. i hope this makes sense to you. kinda hard to describe.

It's alive

ok yea understand.
The semis have a very small throttle wheel and main throttle large so a small amount of throttle movement still allows full open semis.

I saw your car at lucky7..nice engine set up but i was kinda disappointed that you converted a nice car (we were parked side by side at puente hills mazda) into a race car. Again, nice work by Lucky7

amemiya rules 04-24-16 02:39 PM

thanks, it was nice but far from perfect. when i removed the front fenders ( which were beat up,-previous owner was running 16's) i found out it was hit in the front right corner. when i cut the rear fenders we found out it was hit in the drivers side rear and repaired. So i don't feel too bad that i converted it.

how did she run with the Renesis motor?

amemiya rules 04-26-16 12:09 AM

it was great with the renesis, fun on the street but i needed more power for the track. I topped out at 135 at autoclub speedway on the roval. I had 4000 prm to go before redline but i ran out of power. I had 4:88 gears and a turbo 2 tranny with 13" tires so not a top speed car. I you ant to just run it on the street for fun a renesis is great. New setup should do double the HP and torque.

Awesome car, just read your whole thread. Love NA rotaries. Really looks great, love the 13" wheels with overfenders too. I love road-race RX-3s. What sort of racing did you build the car for? Did the increased weight of the 20b up front require any modification to the front suspension?

EDIT: Would love to see a video of it running too!

amemiya rules 05-01-16 07:41 PM

front suspension is unchanged. Ionly drove it around the block for now, one of the fittings for the brakes broke or is defective and is leaking, so i only drove it with the front brakes.
it is my fun car, for weekends and track days. ill try and post a video soon

I just went to extreme autofest at angel stadium to show the car. Been there all day, hot as hell. MY car won 3rd place for best Mazda. !st place went to a stock body FD with a LS swap. The judge walked away from me 1/2 way thru my interview of me telling him the mods i have done to my car. I like showing my car at events but i get very disappointed with the judges there.

hcaulfield57 06-19-16 04:33 AM

Car looks absolutely fantastic. I really love it, a very period appropriate look and I'd imagine the amount of work getting everything to hook up together has been tremendous. It feels like a nice tribute to the rotary race-cars of the 70's.

That's pretty lame about the car show. I haven't seen really any RX-3's built to this level on online. I wouldn't even consider a V8 swapped FD - not really even a Mazda anymore. I'd seriously question the judging.

What?! That's some horse manure! Those aren't judges then if the winning Mazda isn't even powered by a Mazda engine.
