upgrading my rx3
5 Attachment(s)
It has been months since i started this project, i sold my renesis and got a 20b. Full roll cage has been welded in, Lucky 7 built 20b na semi p port, MFR dry sump, defined autoworks intake manifold, brand new rx8 6 speed trans and grannys ford 8.8 rear end. Exhaust is a 3" stainless steel oval going under the passenger side and exiting just before the rear tire thru the body. Car is getting interior paint right now, then back to Lucky 7 to get wired up with a haltech then back to paint to finish it off.

Wow looks good really Good . What's the Keg in the trunk for ? coronas 😁
|
barrel is the oil tank for the dry sump

here are a few pics of the new motor with dry sump and the old renesis they took out
|
well this looks interesting... "upgrade" you reckon? just a bit.
any idea on what the semi PP will put out power wise? i'm guessing the 'box will have a hard time surviving. also, great colour. i'm partial to a flat, dark green myself. |
I'M HOPING FOR 425-450 AT THE WHEELS. It will run 9 injectors, 3 on primary, 3 on secondary and 3 on the semi p ports. I have a brand new 09 and up rx8 6 speed tranny so lets see how long it lasts.
|
besides all the other great upgrades.....that exhaust going out the side is SEXY as hell! Keep us posted on your progress. looking forward to hearing this thing run. what haltech are you going with? PS2000 or Elite? I heard the elite is awesome

Does any one know how much torque a rx6 6 speed can handle?
|
The S1 RX8 trans are good for about 400ish. The S2 are supposed to be better but I don't know an exact figure. If i can find the thread on RX8club, I'll send you the link.

here are some of the wheels i plan to run. I have ssr starsharks 13x10 and a set of volk artisan fins 16x9. I will have to wait until i get the fender flares from NZ to see which one fits and looks better. If i go with the 16's then i will go with a bigger brake kit or T2 brakes

new rear end, grannys speed ship 1st gen , 31 spline forged axles, eaton true trac diff, 5:13 gears
|
Awesome
|
wicked build up, why not go with the fc or fd turbo 5 speed trans? the rx8 trans won't last long if you plan to drive this car, t56 6 spd might be a good option too with an adapter,
Any photos of the flares? i've been wanting some good ones for a long time, any info on where to get them would be great |
I thought about a turbo 2 trans but i like the close gear ratio of the 6 speed. The shop building my car runs a FD race car with a 3 rotor full p port and the same rx8 trans, and it has not broken yet. My thinking is that my car is 1300 lbs lighter than a rx8 and with the 5:13 gears in the rear it shold not be too much strain on the trans. Hopeflly i am right.

what kind of yellow paint r u using for the engine?

painted the intake black, and i am going to wrap the underside with reflective heat tape. also wrapped the semi p port intakes and the hot side of the lower intake manifold. Not easy to wrap and not pretty, but it should do the job

|
1 Attachment(s)

|
2 Attachment(s)
headers done

more work on the exhaust, multiple slight bends, trying to keep it as close to the car as possible. Going from round to oval and then back to round.
|
is going to be a monster.
The first gen (granny speed shop) read diff bolts directly up to the stock rx3 rear? So simple!! |
i'm not sure how easy or hard it is going to be to attach the grannys 1st gen rear, thats why i am leaving it all up to my fabricator. Hopefully it is an easy install. I just need gslse rear brakes to finish it off.
|
that header !!!!! WOW

I got the rear brake rotors today, and the exhaust is finally all welded up. All the work has been done by Tito Garrido and Joe Libby at Renown Racing. Still have to do the 3 link rear and cut the body for the fender flares
|
Yeah it is some awesome work for sure. I've been following your build on here and I see some of the pictures that Tito posts on FB.
|
Are your Wheels gonna fit over those brakes? hard to tell from the pics but the brakes look pretty big.... you said your wheels were 13's??? may have some issues???
|
1 Attachment(s)
