RX3 Crossmember update :)

6 Attachment(s)
Well just wanted to let you guys know that our RX3 cross members are now fully TIG welded for extra strength and more lightness :) This one is the first one of many to come! This particular one is going to a lucky Joseph Wanamaker from California. If you're on this forum Joseph don't be shy to come and comment!

We should just offer them in a clear coat powder coat now instead of any other colors. Its a shame to hide all those beautiful welds!

AuthoritySucks 05-15-11 11:16 AM

^^. Ditto. Guys, we need to show interest in the OG strut tower brace RESPEED used to offer. Homie said if we did he would re make them and we can Group Buy it. STRUT TOWER BRACE.

REPUZENTN 05-15-11 11:44 AM

Very nice, very nice!

cfamilyfix 05-15-11 08:38 PM

My GLC shares tons of front suspension with the rx3...would this crossmember work as well??? Mine is a '78 btw. Thanx!

dj55b 05-15-11 10:27 PM

Not sure about that one, you would have to maybe take out the cross member off the rx3 and try it out in it.

1973rx3 05-15-11 11:32 PM

Wow I likeeey!!!!

Be nice if it would clear an IDA though.

AuthoritySucks 05-16-11 01:52 AM

Cant u just flip the brace over front to back(closest to firewall)?

rotorypolo 05-16-11 09:16 AM

From the picture i've seen, it looks like you could, but needs to be tried and verified though.

Can you guys post a couple pictures of it to see what I'm up against? I do have to work on 3rd gen adjustable control arms before getting into that though along with a few other things in the way. Realistically, prob will be about 5-6 months down the road before getting into it.

R.P.M. 05-17-11 10:19 PM

Sam, I have an RX-2 subframe in my 616 right now, I'll be pulling it out at some point this summer.

Shoot me a text when ever its out Joe! btw, what do you want me to do with those s5 housings?

Siraniko 05-18-11 08:10 AM

send it to me for test fitting since my other RX-3 has no motor and engine cross member. also, any changes on pricing? If you need one for a RX-4, LMK as I have an extra RX-4 crossmember

PureMdMa 05-18-11 10:43 AM

Im down for a RX2 version also Sam. Im also interested in a RX2 coilover setup too. A brake upgrade package for the RX2 would also be bad azz.

turbo_dave 05-18-11 02:29 PM

^I'm with puremdma,I would be interested in a big brake kit similar to what you guys have done for the first gen rx7.a crossmember and strutbar would be nice also.

Siraniko 05-18-11 08:12 PM

hell, I say "continue" producing parts for a RX-3 only. ha ha ha

banzaitoyota 05-18-11 09:36 PM

Wacky cant fit in a Duece! His big-ass needs a RX-4 instead of a RX-4 LOL

Siraniko 05-18-11 09:58 PM

I was told I have no ass lol

ultimatejay 05-18-11 10:18 PM

That crossmember looks really nice Billy. The Rx2 is alot more involved because it is "u" shaped and the lower control arms are mounted on a stud and also the motor mounts to the crossmember as well. It is more of a subframe than a crossmember and I don't see making one out of tubes would make much of a difference. A better idea would be to make some adustable lower tubular control arms. I will be making some for my car. And can someone please make some camber/caster plates for a friggen RX2. Why do all the pantywastes like Wacky that have RX3's get all the goodies?

I promise you guys I'll get to the RX2. How much more involved is the RX2 than say the RX7 that we currently sell? I can't see it being that much more difficult.

As for wacky's question on price, price will remain the same :)

Dj55b:
Send me your shipping address and I will get my duece crossmember to you

You can just send it over here to the New RE-Speed shop:

Sam has all my 3D models and prototypes for the Rx2 camber plates. I am sure he will have the production versions up very soon. He also needs to build the longer lower control arms for Rx2 and Rx3 that have a FB lower ball joint. All in due time I am sure.

Sam,
I have no experience in importing parts so educate me pls. Will there be shipping delay and increase in shipping costs due to tariff, just like shipping parts outside the US of A?

Hey Wacky,

As a Canadian and always having part shipped here and sometimes getting killed with custom charges, has taught me a thing or two about how to ship out and avoid most of that.

So far there was only one person that has been charged customs but that was only because I forgot to check one box on the paper work and I told him I would take care of it because it was my mistake.

Generally the service that is mostly used, gets packages there in 4-5 business days. I think with the same service within the states its usually 3-4 business days, so really not much of a delay, if any, is seen. We can ship things out next day if you guys really want to but then you will be nicked for the added costs of that service and usually is 3x more expensive then the other service.

Now as designing goes for new parts, by the end of this week, I should finally be all fully caught up with the orders and will give me more time for that. I have another gentleman that has shipped me out upper and lower control arms for a third gen to make adjustable arms for those, me and Billy will be working quite a bit at making the aluminum bolt in gas tanks for the first gens, I'm also working on the aluminum oil pans for the 12A and those sturt tower bars for the RX-3 in there.

Hopefully within a couple of months we'll have 3 or so new products.

Sam

When will the 3rd gen adjustable control arms be ready? Any pics of them?

Cheers

Nothing yet, I'll need to talk to billy about that one a bit more to figure out what kind of angle he think we should be adding to correct it.

No pics yet, still in design phase. Hopefully in 2 weeks time, I'll take 1st gen, 3rd gen, rx2, and rx3 arms to get CMM'ed.
