Rx2 race car

Hey Guys

So I know there has to be a few old school racers left on here. I wanted to see if anyone had info to upgrade the brakes or any tips on chassis setup. I bought a former scca car and want to get it ready for a vintage racing class, so parts will have to look to be in the same era.

Thought there could be some good knowledge here.

Thanks for any info
Jordan

You’re going to be pretty on your own with that one.

There’s the Mazda competition manual scanned and floating around on this site or the foxed website. It covers Rx-3 and 1st gen Rx-7 road racing setups. A lot should still apply as far as motor, carb, and timing setup.

For suspension you’ll probably want to look again at 1st gen, AE86, and 1st/2nd gen Ford Escort forums since they’re all heavily road raced with solid rear axles.

Awesome project though.

There are a few options for 1st gen brakes that might be adaptable. Also Garage 48 on facebook does some front brakes and coilover kits for these early RXs.

Do you need to be concerned about rules limiting your brake options?

I'm envious of your find. I'd love a vintage rotary race car. If anyone knows of one for sale, please PM me.

Theres what I was hoping to hear. I can’t go too far from stock but shouldn’t be an issue to just upgrade to 1st gen brakes. My main hope is to get into a vented rotor. For the first little bit I’m more concerned with safety than getting into the class.

So what does it take to adapt FB brakes to the rx2?

Probably a bracket. Check the above link.

Also, maybe Techno Toy Tuning https://technotoytuning.com/mazda/rx2

Also, lots of good racing nuggets of wisdom on this guy's thread:
