ROTARY in a SMART CAR???

has anyone discussed this or thought about this? A smart car is sooo tiny, I would think a 13B with a carb and open headers and that thing will fly.

They already modded with a HAYBUSA 1300 Motorcycle engine..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi_CgGGDglY

I just thought the new smart cars may be a great platform to a rotary engine...like sand rails and such. Can you imagine a turbo charged 13B Smart Car? It would sounds sweet and spank cars on the street...possibly make it pass smog???

Discuss!

Honestly happy I found this forum. Having some crazy ideas and I think my intrusive thoughts will get the monster out of me. I have a Smart Roadster, at first, I was thinking on just doing a simple swap with an H2 engine, do some mods and start doing Hill Climbs, but then, it hit me, why not swap RWD to AWD too?! And that brought me to a 4rotor swap! I'm getting crazy and the more I read, the more I wanna do it! And yes, everyone has been calling me crazy, saying its expensive and too complex and takes too much time and honestly... I couldnt care less! The more they give excuses to not do it, the more willing I am to do it! I havent found no one that has tried to do it with a Smart Roadster, so I'm guessing someone has to do it. Might aswell just be me!
Any updates on this? Or tips that could end up saving me some time? I'd sell my house if it meant being successful with this project.

I would think with hill climbs, you would want some good low end torque and low gearing.

True, but only to a certain degree. Every Hill Climb track is different. But also, I like to think that everything is achievable with the right set-up, mods, configuration and the right people working by your side. There's lot of factors in place but one thing is for sure, no one will ever know unless someone tries it. And honestly, for me, if there's a project worth trying, it's this one.

Lmao you’re probably, what, 19? Let’s wait until after you’ve discovered alcohol, bills and women to chase this, yes?

Remind me to check back in 2040.

Or blow my mind and throw down now for a 4 rotor. If your grades are good enough you might be able to yolo your student loans..

Damn, that's coming from a "Senior Member".. You should know better than to judge, looks bad on you and the community. We as people, should support eachother, specially as car lovers.
But since you wanna know, I'm 23yo, stopped drinking alcohol, am with my 22yo girlfriend of 8 years, living in our own house, fully paid, bills fully paid, no student loans missing, am an engineer working for the government in the electricity production. Money is no problem if that's what is bothering you. Can take a 300k loan if I want with no need for guarantees. Instead of losing time being mad at your life, dedicate it to educate yourself and make some real money.

I'm flying to Spain at the end of September to meet up with my co-driver, then on to France to drive the MG Pyrenees rally for 10 days, not too far from Portugal. Let me know if you want to meet up and talk cars.

Welcome to the forum

That's dope man! You should've started with that!
It would be a pleasure, always open to hear other perspectives and experiences!
Funny you say that tho, I just spent the whole day watching Rali Vinho Madeira. If you ever go to Madeira Island, let me know, I'll show you my garage, have a couple of dope projects there including a quadbike (Yamaha Banshee 350cc 2 stroke) and some classic cars.
Anyways, we just need to arrange and I'll definitely meet you around Portugal mainland!

You said that you could care less of how much time it would take and then asked for tips on how to save time. How you worded this tells me that you wont do it.

That's an interesting line of thought, I wonder how you got to that conclusion. But I'm only 23yo so what would I know... I think I can clarify it for you tho, "I couldn't care less" comes right before I wrote "the more excuses I hear, the more I wanna do it" and also right after the "they say it takes a long time", which indicates clearly that the "couldn't care less" is for the excuses people come up with, to not do nor finish a project. Which honestly, and again I couldnt care less about it. That doesn't change the fact that there might be shortcuts that people know of, that can help me complete the project sooner and with less work, to which has nothing to do with my previous observation on the sentence before that one. 2 different subjects. And I am pretty sure you would accept that aswell in a project of yours. And no matter what, if you're real about a project, you wouldnt take negativity seriously either. One doesnt necessarily mean the other. All fine by me tho, I know what I'm doing behind the screen. I just don't understand why everyone is just coming at me tho, I didnt judge no one, and then when I look up, the only answers I had was from people judging and attacking me, when I'm clearly open in the conversation. But I can keep everyone updated about it, even tho most of you don't deserve it. I must say, so far I dont like this community.
Anyways, everything is being setup on paper already. Right now I'm trying to make a deal on a wrecked Smart Roadster to keep the chassis instead of dismantling mine. I already have an eye on a donor car for the AWD that I think fits perfectly, but aint gonna buy it yet, since I'm finishing my Banshee project still and am expecting it to be finished by December maximum. I dont have much extra time for the time being, but once finished I move to the Smart project. I think this project should take between 1 to 2 years. But everything is already moving to make sure I start on the project with the right foot and as soon as possible. As far as I'm concerned tho, this dont feel like a real car community here.

You said money was no problem then said you could get a loan for 300k. Make up your mind.

I feel like you can't read or something, but again, I'll clear it out. Money is no problem. But if I do need some, I can ask for 300k with no guarantees needed to back the loan, due to how much the money aint a problem for me. Any other part that you need me to clarify?

If money is no problem then you wouldn't need a loan. I can read but your grammar is terrible for an engineer.

You must be illiterate, I'm feeling sad for you. My grammar might be wrong but at least I can write, speak and read a language that I don't use at all since I live in Madeira Island, Portugal where we speak Portuguese. Which I have 0 need to explain, because you can clearly see on the left side, right under "Location".
