New 16X Rotary Engine
yea!! i saw that. its my new desktop background.a ctually. the motor is called a 16C motor (after 13B...go figure) mad hot. i hope the next rx7 looks somewhat like that
hmmm, aluminum sideplates and direct injection...nice :bigthumb:
It just goes to reinforce that Mazda is committed to keeping the rotary alive and well - woot woot.
so... thats a pretty figure, but makes me wonder if the aluminum side plates and stuff are strong enough for.. some more psi ;] hahaha...
i want one in my fb.............
It would make a great engine for the REPU. Think of the torque.
Someone set up a group buy. I'll put one in a Baja.
Yes, you should. I'll help you.

^^your are right^^
Check Mazda website and followed some links to a website that has updates and it stated 16X not C.. L8R |
yes it is a 16x...like the design like a mazdaspeed motor...DISI...hopefully boosted...if not ill just have to do it myself
Its current designation is 16X. It may eventually come to be known as the 16C.

It's real!
Any HP numbers yet? Assuming same power per liter it would hit 285HP in U.S. and 314 in Japan. Oh, and here's the ugly concept car it's in: http://www.mazda.com/motorshow/conceptcar/index.html |
But why 16C? Im thinking more like 16A, like the 10A, 12A, 13A (Yes, it exists), where the letter states the "level" the development the engine has reached..
This would be the first 1.6, so maybe A would be appropriate. Then again, Mazda kept 12A for the '74-'85 engines even though they should have been 12B. I guess 16C goes along with that logic.
If Mazda keeps with what they have done before, then yes, MortenF is correct; It SHOULD be the 16A
I thought the letter was a rotor width designation. 12A and 13A being 70mm wide rotors, 13B being an 80mm wide rotor.
I dont think that it has anything to do with rotor width, seeing that my freshly rebuilt 10A has 60mm rotors. And wasnt the 13A 80mm?
:dunno: I guess I heard wrong then..carry on :)
Ok now im turned on.

It's a geometry thing. Slightly different trochoid, I think.
One big injector per rotor, nice! I can only imagine what kind of flow the next generation of aftermarket injectors will have for this thing.
