Mazda6 rotary? what you guys think?

what would u think if i was to put a rotary engine into a mazda 6?

I might take some heat for this, but a rotary is for the most part an inefficient, unreliable performance engine. Putting such an engine into a non sports car just doesn't make sense to me. Too much work for a car that wouldn't really be able to utilize the benefits of a rotary. Gas mileage and reliability would be my main concerns in a Mazda 6, so I'd keep it with it's stock engine.

+1 Work with the decent little package they gave you!

I wouldnt call the mazdaspeed 6 a non-sports model, hehe. THAT would be cool to see tho. Rotary MS6.

my 13b-rew FC gets better mileage than my dads mazdaspeed 3. And it has at least 100 WHP more

mazdamn 01-20-08 05:48 PM

that ms3 must have a problem. My fiancee and I test drove one, and it averaged 31 mpg on the highway, and 23 in the city.

slo 01-20-08 10:08 PM

its brand new and with him driving it he averages 18MPG, where I average 19 over the same type of roads.

Maybe its the oxygenated gas we have hear.

I don't believe 31 /23 how did you check the mileage on a test drive?

The EPA figures are 26/18.

mazdamn 01-20-08 10:37 PM

Easy, the distance we went, and the amount we put in the car each time. LOL.

We put over 100 miles on it, on the interstate, and then put gas in, and looked at the trip. Reset it, and then drove in the city, redlight after redlight, then filled it later, and checked the trip.

(did this because she has a friend whos family owns a dealership)

Funny, you get serious posts, people looking for help, then ther are posts with a suggestion like this one. No wonder it seems like nobody views for a week at a time.

He never mentioned a Mazdaspeed 6, he just said a Mazda 6. A Mazda 6 wouldn't be worth it but an MS6 on the other hand. AWD Rotary would be badass

xMexi3x 01-22-08 08:49 AM

so you think it would be worth it if its a mazdaspeed 6?

Rotary Potato 01-22-08 08:08 PM

The way I see it, an FD already has a rotary engine and its a way better car and has much more potential than any mazda 6. Not to mention way cheaper. Putting a 13b in the mazda 6 would be expensive, and just not worth it IMO. But if you have the money and really want to do it for some reason then go for it I guess.

f your going to put a rotary in a car,do it to a little car like a geo. where the motor wieghs more than the car. Then you will have ridiculas power to wieght ratio.
