Mallory pump keeps locking up
I have a Mallory 140 Competition pump which is pretty common I believe. Maybe someone here has experience with them and can give some advice...
So I only start my Rx2 maybe once every other month right now as it's not actually drivable . But I don't want the engine to sit too long. The problem is the fuel pump consistently locks up when sitting this long. Luckily the pump is rebuildable. But it's pretty annoying and always gets gas in my trunk...
The outer gear guilds up gunk against the aluminum body. And the inner gear builds up a little gunk as well. Just enough to lock the pump up. It really isn't much when I open it up to clean it out.
I'm wondering how to keep this from happening or if this is common with other Mallory pump users?
