I cut the crossmember down and then welded a 1/2in plate underneath it to strengthen it. And then a flat bar across to the frame rails for the engine mount I used a front mount front cover. Solid mounts simple and easy to do.

It's sitting on a set of Weld Draglites and the tires will be 26x8.5x15 and your gonna laugh at this I will be running it on the stock leafsprings and a set of Caltracs. I would like to be able to hit low nines to high eights on leaf. I haven't had a car that scares me yet but this one will surely do it! Hopefully I can keep the front end down and steer it staight.LOL.

13B-RX3 01-08-06 02:27 PM

WOW!!!!!!! 26x8.5x15 + leaf spring + 500 HP = Scare the hell out of you!!!!

Make sure you follow the instructions on the caltracs. My uncle had a set in his duster and he just threw them on. We were at the track and i was pulling him out of the water box. He Started a high gear burnout and heard something weird. It was a cross between a slapping and screeching sound. Turned around and the back of the car was hoping about 2 foot in the air.

What rear are you running?

What turbo is that?

Closer to 580rwhp my friend gave me this engine combo and that is what he made at 28psi on C16 fuel. He changed over to alcohol and runs a totally different setup so he gave me his old intake. Here's a link to his car http://www.raycar.freeservers.com/photo5.html The engine pics you see on there is the intake I now have. He runs a Jaytech manifold with a 1100cfm Holley style throttlebody with 8 1680cc injectors now. That link to my buddys car is about 3years old and hasn't been updated. Rearend will be a Ford 9 spooled.

im so jealous now , my 1200 is still sittin in my garage im still loking for a new engine

btw increadible job, congrats

I like it! I think 1200's are awesome, and I gotta love the stock rear suspension. With 26x8.50's I guess we are considered small tire cars.

Nice Set up!!!! what transmission are you going to be using? A friend of mine here have the same car 13b turbo but with a Holley and 2 aditional injectors with a haltech f4 for the injectors and man believe me is scary to drive that car with the 26x8.5. Is just to much power for the tires. He have the stock leaf springs with a slide a links bars. Hes going to put bigger tires now. Good luck with your car, Is looking good. Check my little car out.

I am running turboII transmission my friend has done a little work on it to help out with high rpm shifts. Well I have two turboII trans to blow up before I look into something else. I really like the GForce GF5R but it's kind of pricey I am also looking into the GForce T5 transmission looks very promising http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp They can get any kind of gears for it and GForce owner works with a lot of the rotary racers so he knows what works for a rotary. The adapter is around $350 dollars for the T5 to a rotary http://www.kennedyeng.com/other.htm so if you pickup a T5 for cheap, they are dime a dozen, you can have a transmission for around $2500 that will hold up and that's with dog gears. Love your Starlet I used to have one when I lived in Orlando, Fl. Still one of favorites I'm always looking around for one. Also on your friends setup there use to be a Suzuki Samurai that came to the track in Lakeland, FL that had that exact same setup and that thing was insane to say the least.

puntorotary 01-24-06 02:24 PM

esta lindo ese mostro!! you know alot of the rotary community from Orlando?

Doc Holiday 01-24-06 02:47 PM

That Starlet is bada$$. I love the pic with the wheelie. PS. Racingjunk.com has about 4 Dougnash dog cut trannies on there for sale between $1200.00 and $1700.00. Do a search for "doug".

Back in the day I did I'm out the loop now but I keep in touch with some close friends still and I visit there atleast once a year, my parents still live there. I lived in Orlando from 1992-97 that's how I got into rotary's. Alot of rotary people from there and if you lived in Orlando around that time you should know what La Fiebre is all about. We use to hit the streets hard back in the day. Thanks for the compliments hopefully I finish it up this year.

dat-13b 01-24-06 03:29 PM

Wow looks great!! I really need to finish my TII and get back to my 1200. I'm 13B-RX3's friend with the 1200 20b. I originally planed on going with a 13b-rew, but ran across a deal on a 20b I could'nt pass up. You have got lots of room under the hood compared to mine! I sometimes wish I'ld went with a 13b. I test fit my bud's gt 42 and it's going to be a real tight fit. O well, I'm sure it'll all be worth it when it's done. Good too see another 1200 on the forum, keep us posted.

Post some pictures of your 1200 I'd really like to see it. That's my dream combo to have a 20B in my 1200 so I can have a reliable 600rwhp in my 1200 for a daily driver. Well may be not a total daily driver but a weekend warrior. Nothing like driving a car to a track and laying down a single digit pass and driving it home now that's my ultimate goal. I can probably do it with the 13B but I think a 20B would be less stressed. Show some pics I think everyone here would also like to see it.

Looking good, I wish I had gone with that same type of intercooler were the inlet and outlet are in the front rather than on the side. Much easier to route the ic piping..... I got my tranny yoke from that place you sent me , now I can get my drive shaft made. thanks bro

Large Isuzu NPR intercooler you can't beat it for $200 dollars. Glad that worked out for you. Now finish that car up and drive it down to my house.

Im glad you like My Starlet!! You know how it is alot of work and time on it.
About the tranny, I think that you ll be ok with the T2 tranny since your car is very Light. So far I havent had any problems with mine and I have bigger tires so Im pretty sure you ll be ok. If I start braking tranny I think I ll go with the T5 tranny. You know I would love to get the GFORCE 2000 but that its completly out of my budget!!!! Im not in FL but I go to Lakeland pretty much to all of the events they have there and when I have some extra $$$$ I bring my Starlet and make some noise down there.

I'll try to get some pics posted soon, 13b-rx3 has been after me for awhile to post some. I've kind of let other things get in the way lately and have lost momentum. Projects of this size and expense are hard to stay focused on, especially when you don't have a large budget to work with. I agree with you about having a 600hp weekend warrior, that I can drive to the track, run and drive home. I'm sure it can be done with the 13b. Like you said the 20b will do it with a lot less stress, make a more streetable combo, and ahh... that 3 rotor sound!!!
