'87 AWD Subaru XT, 12a swapped.
Chassis is an '87 Subaru XT GL-10 AWD, motor is a pull from a wrecked 83 rx7. Cast aluminum adapter plate, XT turbo clutch, modified XT turbo flywheel, and XT turbo AWD gearbox make up the driveline. I had to borrow the rad and oil cooler out of my fast rx7, but that is a small price to pay for an AWD rotary.

Who does that adapter, and is it still made?
|
I bought the adapter for $250, 12+ years ago as new old stock. The previous owner thought it was a kennedy, but when i called them 10 years ago they said they never made such an item. It is a simple casting with a dozen or so holes and minor machining. The flywheel, clutch, PP, starter, and tob are all factory subaru units with the flywheel center machined to a larger ID and bolt pattern to fit a rotary auto counterweight.

Sweet! An XT was my first car, but it was just fwd and no turbo. My friend had the turbo awd but it was automatic and I think the turbo was seized, it was much slower than mine.
Nice project! |
