78 Savanna - need paint color code

Hi all, I have a 78 savanna that looks like a British racing green color. From what I have found so far it’s called spectrum green. I can’t find the color code or if that’s actually what’s it’s called. Does any one know where I could find this so I can repaint the car to match.

I have one as well, my long term project, S/N 4591. I've also been in contact with the owner of another car, the same color and neither one of us have found a paint code label. Not sure if JDM cars even had labels or how the color code was identified. We exchanged a few emails back and forth and he did send me a Japanese color chart that had been translated to english. It lists Spectrum Green as paint code FQ. Not sure that helps much as I've never found any paint mfg. that has their own version of it.

I think the best bet to match it, would be to have a place scan an area that hasn't been exposed to weather or sun and isn't faded. (spare tire well, underside of headlight lids or behind the firewall ID plate) That would get you close, but would guess it would need some further custom tinting to fine tune it. Do you have any other pics of your car? Would like to see more of it.

i think the color code is G2, and there should be a little sticker somewhere on the bottom of the hood

That colors of 79/80 thread you wrote is gold and I regularly refer back to it. Basically you identify the color as Spectrum Green (from a JDM brochure I believe) but also say that G2 is the "closest" color that made it to the US. This could be he case, but my Mazda Paint book (US addition) identifies G2 as Pearl Green.

The best color chip I've found for G2 Pearl Green supports your theory that is could be close to Spectrum Green.

However an actual paint code for Spectrum Green has been like a big foot sighting. The guy I found who also has a car this color, contacted someone in Japan and had him translate this chart (also from a brochure I believe) and the description next to the FQ color came back as Spectrum Green. So, I believe we are saying the same thing. Just that if the translation is right, Spectrum Green might be code FQ. Problem is, I've been unable to verify FQ as an official code from any other source or come up with an actual color chip image for comparison.

Translated Chart:

Also, I agree that usually the paint code was listed on a decal affixed to the underside of the bonnet, however when it comes to JDM cars, I'm not so sure. I've been looking for verification for a few years now and have yet to see any paint code labels on JDM cars. Restored or not, I've so far come up "bupkis" for paint code labels of any kind on a JDM car. Here is a sampling of my captured images.

the brochure actually says Specter Green, but i do think Spectrum/Specter and Pearl Green are all, potentially; the same color
i wish i would have shown my work a little better, i'm not sure how i got from Specter Green to G2, four years later
