Had mine dyno'ed a few weeks ago - it got 255hp at the hubs. Depending on all the variety of methods of back calculating to the flywheel, that gives anything from 280 (as Mazda quote) to just under 320! Its probably nearer the 290-300 mark, we had a timed day at an airfield, and my times were pretty much the same as other 300flywheel hp modded FDs. (Also managed 151mph before the end of the runway started to loom....!!)

Some of you are forgetting that the Renesis is designed to sit lower and furthure back in the engine bay than in the Rx7. This gave Mazda the ability to design a long arm suspension set-up in front. Longer arms means that more tire will stay in contact with the road therefore giving better overall traction in all conditions(F1 indy car anyone). This set-up also better takes advantage of the 18" wheels which the car was designed to run. Now I understand that no production Rx8 has achieved any performance numbers (handling wise) anywhere close to the Fd but remember the Rx8's suspension is tuned to be alot more civilized for todays market. Just because the car currently doesn't put down the numbers that the 7 did doesn't mean it isn't capable of doing so. Anyone remember that JIC Rx8 in SCC magazine that had coilovers? That car ran the slalom in 77mph. :eek: I've never heard of an Fd doing anywhere near that.

when i watched car and driver when they reviesed the rx8. I think they said the suspensio was good but when you really tried to push the car it couldnt take it. But that was like a while back and i think thats what tghey said

Another "7"....IMO I don't think it's worthy of the 7 name. Looks too much like the 8...maybe if it had a more aggresive look...maybe then...

As long as Mazda can stick to what they know, they will do fine. They know the rotary, and the RX-7 is what made Mazda such a contender, I believe. They would be stupid to first build a car and then the engine. So, let's give them time to work out all the kinks. I'd rather have a bitchin powerful stock engine and a pretty good look, than a pretty good stock engine and "it looks really fast!". If they put a 3 rotor renesis in a TII, I think it would be good enough. Stop with the new school design. Some of their older lines looked incredibly awesome.

Popup headlights are a must, though.

Popups died with the C5. I doubt if we'll see them back for a while, no matter how much we love 'em.

I kinda like this design for a 4th generation RX-7.

I say screw all the new designs . The orginal shape is a classic and the best .They just need to update the suspension , simplifiy the seq. turbos . And keep the pop up head light ;) ..hehe..

Keep the Pop-up headlights, and I still want a Turbo.

I think what they should do as far as body/engine design is make a contest of the best drawing of a 4th Generation RX-7 , pick 10 finalists and then let us decide which design to be the production vehicle. Something like American Idol.

guys i have a magazine from australia ,and they have a documentary about the 4 gen rx7
as per the magazine they said that mazda its planing to either make a 13b 3 rotors or make a 1.5 litesr 2 rotor turbo which i think it ill be more reliable than a renesis 3 rotor if you people really know about rotarys 2 rotors are a way better to create power than a
3 rotor and a 1.5 liter cmon you guys know that there is out there 13bs with almost
1000 hp and you guys know it lets get a 1.5 to see how we do.

... will a 4th gen RX-7 bring down the prices of FDs? :D

Well if you ever do the Web Tuning on Mazda Japan you will see that you can buy a RX-8 witha 13B engine just a heads up that they still make them in the RX-8s just cause we are the rest of the world we are screwed

The Black one I showed you guys is the closest to the 4th Gen but I tihnk they should redesign the rear maybe make it alil low profile no? well lets just hope the 4th Gen will compete with the 2006/2007 Nissan GTR so we can have soem fun haha =) no need to worry about the Impreza or Lexus Supra = p

I say keep the orginal not the renesis 13B 2 rotor . We already have alot of aftermarket support for that engine . make it seq. twin turbo too :D

i think that would be a HUGE mistake. that engine package nearly sank mazda once, they won't make that mistake again. and sequential twin turbos? that's just dumb. keep it simple, easy to modify then cut the warranty period in half for the turbo version. if you modify the powertrain in any way, you void your warranty - i have no problems with that.

hell, i would even like to see an engine management package like what GM has. you can modify operating parameters through the OBDII diagnostic port just as though it were a standalone.
