Need to rev it.
Porting looks bad. First off...that is a video of the idle on the first start...it revs fine but is not tuned completely and is in break-in...what proves its a halfbridge is the idle, no? That is why the video was posted. There are videos on the internet of it running under boost so I didn't think it needed to be posted again. And the porting actually looks great. That pic was taken halfway through the porting job when the bridge was just rough cut. It was later followed with a stone and then a sanding wheel until it was pristine. I posted this pic because the lighting shows the eyebrow really nicely and you can see the Renesis exhaust in the pic showing it is a Renesis plate, that is all. Oh, and if you are speaking of the "irregularity" on the opening edge of the Secondary Port, that is meant to be that way, the renesis rotor dimensions and where the corner seals/side seal sit require that tab there to prevent binding with the edge of the port...ask me how I know :P...the same is true for the exhaust port as well...hence the weird port shapes.... Anyways, thanks for the honest opinion. Chris |
Ah i gotcha.
I assumed, the pic of the ports were done. And also didnt realize that was the idle on a first start. With that being said, she looks like she idles absolutely great. Cant wait for more vids. |
ah sweet, well done. Was waiting to see a bridged renesis for a while. Why didn't you port the auxuliary port though?
|
No point. They don't flow enough air.
|
exciting news!!
lets see some dyno runs did you touch the exhaust port? looks a little different or could just be me... |
Not bad! Id like to see the results for a NA engine too.
|
pretty nice turbo set up!!:icon_tup: what specs r those apex seals???

They open a little earlier and the internal profile is very smooth and easy for flow compared to stock. As for dynos...it laid 414whp on Pump gas with 16psi on a T04S and stock intake manifold...since then its been upgraded to the PT71GTQ you see, with the new intake manifold on E-85 running about 19-21psi..so you do the math :)..it feels awesome...I hate speculating but 500whp is not by any means too optimistic. I actually developed those apex seals through my company, Esmeril Racing. We tested them for over a year and drove, boosted and detonated the crap out of them during that period. We just launched them last week....already sold 6 sets :) Chris |

HUH?! have you sat down and compared the port sizes on a RENESIS to a s4 or s5 6port?! RENESIS ports are monsters compared to previous 6port engines, however the exhaust looks a bit constrictive stock for stock, but the intake is crazy huge even the mid plate ports are huge....looks good tho nice clean setup, i actually thought it was a alky car at first, sorry to nag but can the vid be posted on somethin like youtube so everyone can see it freely? thnx
Here is a photobucket link to the same video...no big deal...just idle. http://s679.photobucket.com/albums/v...t=MOV01257.flv Thanks Chris |
I'm assuming you mean e85 if so which pump are you using?

In Minnesota there are over 300-400 pumps with E-85. I just use one close to my house and one close to my work when I drive it there.

sorry let me rephrase the question, which fuel pump are you using for your car?
I have twin -044 Bosch's. One runs all the time and one comes on under boost. Chris |
do you have a thread on the 8club?
|
this is good news that you guys are doing this porting on renesis engines.:) surely it means safe guarding the future of rotarys as other older engine supplys dry up? What g boxes bolt up to the renesis? Please excuse my ignorance on rx8s..
A friend of mine who owns a big mazda dealership is tripping over warranty renesis engines! Most of them are fully usable! |
theres a guy on rx8club that has had a bridged renesis for a little while now. other than the bridge, its stock though.
i been trying to get people into the renesis for a while now. i believe the renesis is the future of rotarys. i have a renesis that im building for nitrous in a 2nd gen. i been debating weather to semi-pp it or do a bridge. i been leaning towards the semi-pp... and the plan is to have it do low 11's and be strett driven. either way, i'll need some nice seals to go with it. what do your seals run for a set? and maybe a template for the bridge port? also, did you cut into the rotor housing at all for the bridge? it dosnt look like it in the pic. but you said the porting was half done anyways... nice work! |
also, im curios to know if you left the 6 port sleeves in or removed them. and if you removed the sleeves did you fill in the end of the 6th port with JBweld or Devcon to make the trasition nicer?
did you do any work to the runners? shaping them at all? enlarging them? would you post pics of them? thanks! |
nice job Chris, that sounds nices, esta cabron el setup.
