13b in 914

I had the feeling of selling ym 5.0 mustang and getting an rx-7. i ended up with this 914 falling in my lap, so the 13b project begins... i have my sources for my radiator setup and plan on running some form of the fomula mazda setup found in the SCCA

Another builder in SOCAL has a 911 powered by 13-B FI turbo. Its running but no track time. its nice what $$ can do.

sorry a little slow.. i am still stripping the car. i need to find a good 13b to transplant... any one in CO that can help... i might go carb 1st just to do the sorting then go FI after i get the car running good..

will send pics soon.

If you are going to go FI, you'll need a 6-port motor, but a 4-port is the best choice for carb, so it seems you have a decision to make in that regard.

The very thought of a rotary 914 makes my pants less roomy.

dieters914 04-11-04 12:52 PM

well, all of the hardware associated witht he swap seems to be more important at first. i wouldnt mind starting out with an FI motor but then i have to find a good donor car. what would be the best year to get the parts out of. if i am going to start with FI then i want to be able to go turbo later.

4 ports would be easier to turbocharge, so you might want to consider getting a TII donor.
Apart from the longblock, you'd need a few parts to make it run: coilpacks, ECU, fuel delivery system...
It's not that hard though, if you ditch all the useless stuff (airpump etc) you'll see there's not much around these engines.
Good luck, and keep posting updates!

About 10 years ago my brother in law and his friend each built rotary powered 914s .. one had a 6-port with Dellorto, the other a street ported 4-port 13B with a Holley.
