What kind of car is it? gsl? gsl-se? also what have you done to it so far?

Sorry, this is an 85 rx do not know model nor is there any on car. Only thing done to car is new main catalyic converter and a normal tune-up; plugs, wires, and distributor/rotor and cap.

Sounds like your throttle postion sensor on the front side of the carb is mis-adjusted causing your shutter valve to open at the wrong time. It's possible someone was trying to adjust the idle and turned the wrong screw.
