Description:

Willing to buy center console plastic for a LHD FD. Current console looks alright at initial look but it collapses on itself and has something broken in the structure. It’s not too big of a deal but big enough of a deal to merit trying to find a good condition piece. Thanks

RHD?

I have RHD.

Are you talking the combination upper and lower piece? Often the cross brace in the lower section cracks. You didn't actually lean on it did you?

I’m not sure if the center console unit is different but my car is LHD.

Yes different they are. So no 99 spec for you.

The lower part of LHD centre arm rest is big$.

Best get the JB Weld out.

No I didn't lean on it, read about it a lot on the forums before getting my FD earlier this year. The previous owner did so it's likely broken underneath. Going to remove it sometime next week when I have a couple days off from work and see if I can apply some JB weld instead.

Thanks, I forgot that 99 spec are only RHD.

Very easy to remove. Lift the top plastic part starting from the very back (between the seat.) The lifting action will slowly pull the 4~5 holddown clips out of their morings. There will be some resistance from the switch wires. Dont be detered. Once lifted, at least part way, you will be able to see the bridge piece which is often broken. The hold down clips on the upper part often pull off. If some are missing look further down under the armrest, that is often where they end up. Once the holddown clips are largely diengaged, you want to lift up at the front of the plastic piece to disengage the mooring posts (if you lever up too much they will break) If you want to take the plastic entirely off, you will need to unscrew the shift ****, and release the harness connectors for the switches.
