White Powder in Exhaust
I have replaced stock exhaust manifold with a RB header when i pulled the manifold off there was a white power all the way down to the C converter. it does not rub off easy has no smell.. looks like a power coating... Did not have any problems with the motor before i started working on it any ideas??? its not a big deal just want to make sure there are not any problems!!

It is a byproduct of the combustion process. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Thanks some one said i might be running lean. I just ordered a fuel/air monitor so i guess i will know when i put that in

Light colored deposits are from "lean" operation. Whenever you're cruising, the ECU will be in closed loop operation, which keeps the mixture right around 14.7 (Stoich.). As I said before, it's normal.
Also, if the gauge you ordered is a narrow band (the $50 kind that uses your stock O2 sensor), it won't tell you much. Only a wideband sensor/gauge can tell you exactly. |
Yes i ordered a nice one AME wide band. i try not to go cheap when ever i can
