Suspension woes
 

I recently picked up a '93 from another member. The first thing I decided to address was the suspension. I figured I would replace all the bushings, but I was concerned about the ball joints. Well, my fears were confirmed. The ball joints are not in good shape. I began looking into available options - of which there seem to be few. I really want replaceable/servicable joints, and I plan on dropping my car 1-2 inches from stock on 17 inch rims. Just to show you I've done my homework, I found the following options:

1. Call Ray Crowe and give him all my money for new Mazda OEM replacements.
2. Order Nagisa/NAMS aftermarket upper control arms from RHD Japan, and Moonface lowers, and give them much more money than I would to Ray.
3. Try to remove the ball joints from my arms like this member did:

4. (Not sure on this one) It seems some people have used FC arms on their FD, as the FC arms have replaceable joints. I cannot find much at all on this, though.

5. Design my own and have a machine shop fabricate them. I believe I have access to all of the resources for this (I'm a mechanical engineer), but it's not the ideal avenue I'd like to take. It would take a very long time and would require favors and such.

Are there any options I'm missing?? I really would like to try to remove the joints from my FD's arms, as I really have nothing to lose. Does anyone know if it's been successfully done? Does anyone know member "galvatron10000" that I referenced in my option 3 above?

LOL! Be that as it may, he was still on to something. The exact something I want to do. I sent him a PM to ask about his project, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.
Anyone out there with any solutions to my delima that don't require selling organs??

I actually recently ordered those, along with the Moonface lowers as well. While it's money well spent, it still upsets me that there is such a lack of options. See this thread I've posted in:

galvatron10000 and I are trying to cross-over the ball joints to find some replacements. He was able to remove his ball joints from the stock arms, and he claims he has a MOOG catalog that the joints can be crossed-over by dimensions. I sent him some dimensions I took of the front UCA joints, so hopefully he can find something soon.
