Starter wiring, new owner needing help.

About a month ago i purchased an 84' rx7 that sat for a year. Recently I baught a new battery for it and hooked it up. Now when I put the key in dash lights up, when I turn the key forward to send power to the starter nothing happens, no lights no sounds. When I turn the key back I no longer have dash lights (as if battery wasn't connected). Disconnect battery and reconnect still nothing (no dash lights). Checked fuses, all good. Checked battery, still 12.8v. A friend suggested that a relay is stuck or bad.

Before I start ripping stuff apart does anyone have suggestions? If it is a relay, what one and where can I find it? I couldn't find many helpful diagrams online.
I'm new to the rx7 club as well was car wiring, so every detail/picture helps a lot. thank you very much for all your help.

You can download the wiring diagram for your car here. Have you checked the fusible links?

I Have not, only the fuses and battery. Thanks a ton for the link, this will make my experience more enjoyable.

Starter could be shorting the system or just a bad relay. You can easily test it by jumping the wiring for the relay and see if it start up. Just pull the relay and use a wire to jump the connection the relay would normally do.
