my shifter felt sloppy. I took out the shifter and there was a piece ripped. I just didnt know what part it is. So i dont know what to look for..My shifter was loose. i could move it up and down..

The part that is ripped is the inner shifter boot. But it also looks like you're missing both the upper and lower bushings. The bushings cup the "ball" on the shifter, and have small flat springs that press against the underside of the inner boot & the socket in the transmission extension housing.

Mazdatrix carries all 3 of these: http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm

common wear and tear almost normal as mazdatrix puts it
when you replace all the boots and bushings make sure you drain all that gunk out through the side access plate. spray it clean with brakeleen and replace with 90w gear or rear end oil .you will notice how smooth it is if you do
