Purpose of Single Turbo REW

I've seen people modify their FDs' engines to run on a single turbo, what's the purpose for this? Does it improve anything?

Moar powah

I've never owned an FD but I believe it gets rid of the factory sequential twin complexities, cleans up the engine bay and is easier to tune.

I see, but at the same time you'd get turbo lag.

There's a few reasons. Not really a science behind it.
1. More powahhhh
2. Simplicity
3. More power
4. Greater power potential
5. Having too much discretionary income and not knowing what to do with it.
6. Simplification of the engine bay

But for real though, everyone has their reason but most of the time it's just for more power and simplicity.

Not necessarily. Turbo technology has come a long way in the 25 or so years since the car was made. With the right turbo design and size, power potential is increased considerably with no increase in lag. And you still rid yourself of transition issues and simplify management.

I make 20 PSI by 3500 and 30 PSI by 4k rpms on a 67mm turbo...I assure you, it doesn't feel laggy

More power cleaner engine bay depending on which turbo kit you are using the car can become way more responsive as in terms of boost. Trying to make power with stock twins max you can probably make is like 380hp before they blow

power, simpler more reliable and cheaper
