Hi All,

I have a new to me 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE. In the past 6 weeks it started to idle rough and stall when below 2500 RPM. I am thinking vacuum leak...but am struggling to find any leaks. Anyone know of a good RX-7 mechanic in the Ottawa, Canada area?

does it act like that all the time, or only after it's warmed up?

Thanks for the reply. Just in the past 6 weeks it started to stall under 2500RPM whether cold or hot. This weekend I was diagnosing. I have good coils, spark to all cylinders, a solid fuel pump and flow into the EGI. I have not yet checked return fuel flow which could be an issue ... am struggling to get return hose loose. Could still be vacuum. I messed with the EGI settings and may have screwed myself as I can no longer get it to start. Thanks for the link to the manuals. I have many of those...will need to go through the tuning step by step. I'll keep you updated.

 

well, if it's not starting, then it might be flooded now. deflood it and see if it will start again.

originally, i was thinking maybe the water temp sensor might have been the issue, but if it was doing it both cold and hot, then it may have been a big vacuum leak all along.

did you happen to do any work (or cleaning) to it in the time leading up to when it began not idling?
