No start sometimes. FD3S

Ok my problem is that I think is the stock alarm systems or my clutch safety switch but I could be completely wrong.

Sometimes when I go to start my car it doesn't do anything, list of what it does:

No turning
starter doesn't do anything, no clicking or anything
all lights on, wipers work, everything works.
fuel pump works
battery is strong
Turn key and I here the fuel pump and everything turn on, just nothing to the starter to actual start the car, kinda like its a dead battery but it has a full charged battery

When it does start, (this is why I don't think it is the starter) it takes one turn and boom its on. SO can the stock alarm system cause it to have everything else work and no engage the ignition system or starter?

So please help me out. It started this weekend and only happened the one time and then a few days later it did it again.

Sounds similar to the issue i had after i removed and installed my dash. I had full power but no click when i turned the key.

Turns out my ign switch thing was loose and came apart. I put it back together and book car starts.

I would check this thing an ensure its together, nice and tight and has a good connection. Heck it might even be bad, if you have a local fd friend maybe borrow his.

You think that even though I haven't removed my dash that might be the problem? Ill check it out today and see if it is loose. Anyone else with possibilities are very welcome and thanks Johnny!

The starter solenoid could be failing, how many miles are on the starter?

gschott 03-04-15 02:02 PM

35k-40k on starter

possible starter or ignition switch! Check Both!

Simple and cheap things first....check the connections at the starter and work your way back...including grounds.
A lot of information here on the starter circuit and a possible issue ---> https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-relay-872841/

Check the relay on the clutch pedal. it has a plunger switch which must be pressed in to close the circuit or you will not even get current to your starter, therefore no click when you turn the key even though everything belse seems fine. When you press the clutch there is a rubber stopper under there that pushes in that plunger switch mentioned earlier and it gets dry rot and breaks away or dangles there so that sometimes itt pushes the plunger and sometimes not. So that may be your problem
