idle problems

I have a 1979 rx7 and i cant start it with out useing the choke even when its warm outside? anyone know what could be causeing this ?

hard starting when warm is usually an indication of lean running conditions, especially at idle.

check the spark plugs, if they're a brilliant white there is not enough fuel, if they're black you're getting too much fuel, you want them to be a nice golden brown.

I strongly recommend a wideband o2 sensor on all carburetted vehicles.

Could be a massive vacuum leak.

is this a cold start?

hmmm I'm go check those then and buy a hose and replace it... yes a cold start like even after using the choke at some stops it will stall out

I'm new to cars what is o2 sensor

rxtasy3 09-25-12 07:39 AM

it's located in the exhaust system near the engine and used on fuel injected cars to help control fuel mixture.
