Picture Game, What Is This?
 

Finished chasing engine compartment grounds. I now know why there are issues.

But, in the process I found an interesting piece of non-mazda looking equipment. I spent some time trying to figure out why there was a knob labeled Left and Right. I took a picture to post.

And, yeah, I figured it out later.

But, can anyone tell me what it is, who made it, and share what else it might be related to? Car runs fine. It appears that it was kind of set and forget (or set and rip knob off).

It is next to the right front shock tower. I did not trace the wires (was still thinking left and right).

That is factory OEM, its the mixture idle screw, you should never have to mess with it unless someone else has, which in this case, looks like someone has

Go through the idle relearn per the FSM and it tells you how to reset it

That is the only piece under the hood that looked different. Was mounted upside down and does not seem to fit in the hole.

Mine sat for ten years. I put new oil disconnected the coils turned her over for a while hooked back up and started her up

Update,

Logicon is fixed. AC is charged with Duster (Thanks Guys), AC relay in ECU seems bad. All the right inputs, but it never was turning on the compressor. Wired up a small relay to feed off the pressure and temp switch circuit and I now have AC. 60 degree air from vents on a 90 degree day in the driveway. 55 degree air while moving.

Car looks wonderful inside and out. Still need polished. Need to do rear wheel bearings first. Kind of noisy over 45 mph.

I had no idea these cars could be this fun to drive!

Just to add that the part you posted in the pic is called a "variable resistor"..
the L & R are not Left and right..it is LEAN and RICH!

I think that is only used for idle, right?

Big Gap. Life got in the way.

Paint chips done, DR Color Chip, I NEVER want to paint another car, and it was easier. Needs wash, buff and wax.
Burned out dash lights replaced.
Cracked plastics repaired.
Fuel pump cleaned, sender repaired, dissolved (I hate E10) lines replaced.
All ports working

Last mechanical is a strange one. Car is great in the dry. In the rain, over a bump or rough pavement, the back turns kick to the right. Does not take much of a bump. From all I read, the 30 year old DTSS bushings are likely shot. My goal is to return the car to service as it was in 1987, that would mean those bushings stay, but it is dangerous in the rain. I even have the shocks working and all functional. I understand that there are no DTSS replacements, anywhere. So, the fix is a DTSS Delete (RB or MT).

Before I make the change, is there anything else I should look for? Alignment is good, tires are good, pressures are good, issue is at cruise (40 to 60 mph) on any bump or rough pavement in the rain. I am happy without the rear steer, kind of freaky if you ask me, but my goal was a cleaned up time capsule car.
