Engine Squealling?

OK so when it starts it squeals, then stops after warming up, but when i drive it sometimes squeal if i down shift. I ask a buddy of mine he said it could be the wheel bearing? But idk. Anyone had this problem?

Sounds like belts or a bad accessory bearing to me.

i dont' know what side?/ because i can't check it when i'm in the driver side? lol heres the story it is stock turboII engine. I haven't done anything with it, but it is a swap engine. I'll breif with the story. It is a turboII the previous own swap the engine to a different turboII. Because the old one was beat up etc etc. The only thing thats different on the engine would be the alternator pully. its an aftermarket blue one and a rotar oil cap. thats about it.

try turning your fan off when it starts and see if the squealing stops too

Do you know how to measure for belt deflection? A chilton or haynes manual will be able to give you proper directions. But in the mean time you can try this.
http://books.google.com/books?id=F5g...age&q=&f=false

You can also try a product called belt dressing. You put it on the belt and it is supposed to stop the belt squeal. But it will eventually wear off. If the dressing works, than it is safe bet that your belts are loose.

Since you describe it only as squealing when you down shift or gas it, I am 99.99% sure your belts are loose.

What car do you have?

Take it to a mechanic. They can check the bearings in all the accessories with a stethoscope.
